Amazon's previous VP of Prime Gaming said they "tried everything" to disrupt Steam

I think even if Amazon made a service that had every last feature of Steam I still wouldn't use their service. This has nothing to do with established libraries for me, I regularly use itch io, gamejolt, and GOG, it has to do with trust. I would not trust my game library in the hands of Amazon for the same reasons I would not trust my game library in the hands of Epic. They will not put me first when it comes to whatever they wanna do. They are the types that think that "publishers decide the store wars, not consumers" (actual quote from Tim Sweeney).
I'm not saying Valve doesn't also see me as a wallet, I'm very much in the camp of "Corporations are not your friends", but like, if Valve ever decides to fuck me, I have 100% confidence based on their previous actions that have ALMOST always centered around making the user experience better, they will at least use lube before doing so. Everyone else except for maybe the people running GOG seem like they'd violently shove a cactus up there instead if it amuses their shareholders or a publisher.
Trust is something you can't buy, it has to be earned over time. Amazon does not have the good will necessary for me to use them as anything but a prime gaming GOG key generator because of how much I use "free" prime shipping to get physical goods to the point that it pays for itself.

Spoiler, click me
(haven't forgotten about paid mods, abandoning artifact, waiting 12 years for a new half life game only to still be left on a cliffhanger, the long term neglect of Team Fortress 2 that is thankfully now over with the SDK release, or loot crate controversies)

The thing about this GOG Dreamlist is that it comes off as like, a carrot on a stick with no actual carrot.
All the games I actually want to be on GOG, like the 2000s need for speed games, Silent Hill 2 and 3, and the ORIGINAL (I.E. Non MCC Version of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2) halo games for the purposes of reviving the custom edition/project cartographer modding scenes, etc. are probably never gonna end up actually on GOG, especially since they aren't at the top of the votes list.
It'll be like how we all wanted a linux launcher and it sat at the top of requests for a long time, yet it took so long people just made Heroic Games Launcher which is better in many ways anyway just like going and "finding" these old games is better anyway.

PS2 Emulator emulator PCSX2 should get Wayland support "in the coming months"

Yes – in fact, it's being worked on for Godot too :)That's one of the few complaints I have with Wayland checked off the list then I guess. The final 3 things to check off now are having gamescope consistently work with wayland on Nvidia cards, no --expose-wayland flag needed, OCR screen readers for language translation and accessibility working, and allowing applications to set their own spawned window icons.

So wait, does this mean the Wayland devs actually got multi-window management working?

I'm holding out for Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim support before I use this, but I'm glad modding on linux is about to get easier since that's actually one of the few complaints I have left with linux other than SteamVR not being quite at feature and QoL parity with the windows version.
Positively rated immersive-sim FPS Fortune's Run is on hold as the developer is going to prison

That's a shame, I really enjoyed what I played of Fortune's Run so far.
If I were a superstitious man, I would swear someone put some kind of hex on anyone that makes an Immersive Sim-type game. Something always goes wrong during development.

Steam Beta for Dec 11 brings new game update options plus a new downloader style

I see a pretty much universal desire for a "block updates" function, there are so many instances of games that absolutely screw up their updates and having version control would be amazing.
