Quoting: luapThere are basically three things that have been keeping me from just switching to linux full time, none of them related to myself.
My kids NEED roblox, minecraft (bedrock), and the oculus steam streaming VR thing.
roblox being an option now checks one box, and minecraft (bedrock) is just fine with the mcpelauncher. I just need steam to make the steamvr link thingy that wirelessly connects on windows work on linux, and i'll never look back.

I tried this, it works fine on windows but doesn't work on linux yet, last i checked anyway.
I have heard that ALVR is meant to work, i might give that a try at some point and see!
I tried using ALVR... Could never get it to work on bazzite through my steam deck... just wanted to try and see if minecraft VR would work since it's surprisingly not that demanding... managed to get it running on a Mini PC

Bazzite Linux 3.6 out now bringing full ASUS ROG Ally X support
20 Jul 2024 at 11:14 am UTC

Quoting: GuestI've considered getting the Ally X to put Bazzite on it, as a powerful Steam Deck replacement with the option to connect my eGPU. But so far I have not had much luck with my external RTX3080 under any flavor of Linux. This GitHub issue also doesn't really inspire confidence in Linux on the Ally in general: https://github.com/ublue-os/bazzite/issues/966 [External Link]

Bazzite seems very promising, just not quite polished enough to get a $800 gadget specifically for it. It's not their fault either, I really hope the Nvidia/Wayland/GameScope situation can be resolved within the next few driver updates.
pretty sure it's because the eGPU has proprietary stuff going on... but i might be wrong?

PS2 Emulator PCSX2 2.0 is out now and it's a huge upgrade

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderAs an avid user of PCSX2 im very excited to see the 2.0 update.......
Looking forward to seeing 2.0 come to mint in 2 years...... Joking.....

Looks really good from what ive seen so far.......

What a great month it has been for emulation as well...... Major Dolphin Emulator and PCSX2 updates....... So who needs modern games???.......
For me i only need god of war, sonic, ratchet & clank, TY the tasmanian tiger, Metal gear (rising revengeance styled), Rayman, and... i think that's it? otherwise yeah everything else i could emulate... but i do appreciate older titles being ported to pc... star wars bounty hunter being an example i hope to not regret.

Steam Game Recording Beta announced - works on Linux and Steam Deck too

Quoting: pbYes, finally! Thanks, Gabe! So many times I wished I had some background recording after witnessing a weird or funny moment in the game, but not enough to warrant setting up constant recording with OBS or some other tools that came and went in the meanwhile. Hopefully this one will work nicely with wayland (it must).
This seems like such a perfect moderation/bug reporting tool...
