Valve attempt to get the New York lootbox lawsuit dismissed as "People enjoy surprises"

I agree with the posters above who point out how shitty baseball and pokemon and MTG card packs are, and I dislike and disagree with the notion that just because Jimmy was doing it doesn't mean Gabe needs to do it. Just because Jimmy markets randomized card packs and you have to buy them again and again to get the card you want, doesn't mean Gabe needs to pull the same shitty stunt. Valve absolutely should abandon the loot box practice and move on. Gambling mechanics have no place in digital gaming. Just excise the practice already.

I'm eager to get one as well as a diehard Steam Controller-Stan. Liam will you be buying one soon or is it possible Valve ships you one for review if you ask politely?

Framework Laptop 13 Pro is selling out with the Linux version beating Windows
27 Apr 2026 at 5:52 pm UTC

I just ordered one and it says Batch 10. So, maybe in 2026? 😅
I have been on the fence for a framework laptop for years now. Also, the 16gb ram alone was $335CAD.
Not sure if I'll put Ubuntu on it or see if Bazzite has decent support.

Heroic Games Launcher gets a slick full-screen console-like mode
24 Apr 2026 at 12:15 am UTC

I checked it out in desktop mode and I like that it instantly switches to that view. I did have some trouble getting the tabs (All, GOG, Epic) to be selected with my joystick and dpad. The mouse can select it. Joystick can't always get "up there".
I'm a little disappointed the only functionality is Play or Cancel.
It's early days though and as this grows and expands it'll be much nicer especially in Game mode on my deck.

Prepare for HDD availability trouble as they're getting sold out too

Balanced take: there is no conspiracy, this is simply a market reaction, and once these data centres are built but the envisioned demand does not materialize, prices for all components will fall as data centres stop being built.
I thought about panic-buying HDDs too, but they're expensive now, and anyways I have nothing to store.

Epic Games Store saw a 57% increase in purchases for third-party PC games in 2025

Quoting: rea987Why on Earth someone spends a penny on that non-store is a mystery to me.
I bought Alan Wake 2. I suppose I could have pirated it, but I wanted to pay for it, and it was on a steep discount, like just $20 CAD.
If it were for sale on Steam I'd have bought there, but it isn't.
I won't be buying any other games on EGS unless they're exclusive due to a funding/publishing deal like that.

But, a bigger vendor like Lenovo seemed a bit more trustworthy if I ever encountered hardware problems.
I thought the same... yet, I got disappointed by Lenovo.
Reminds me of Logitech when I asked them if my Logitech G815 keyboard keycaps will wear away: "no they are laser etched they cannot wear away."
One year later, the black plastic dye over the clear keycap is wearing away on the most used keys, e.g. everything surrounding the etched letter is disintegrating making some letters illegible.
1 year warranty.
I bought a replacement set from Aliexpress for $50 but still, buyer beware these days >:(

Quoting: Persephone the SheepNot that I can afford a new handheld plus dock. How well do the detachable controllers work?
Exactly my question to Liam also: how is LLGo Joycons support in Bazzite when they're not docked to the unit? I adore the Switch Joycons because I can rest my arms on the back of the couch, or drape one arm over my head and the other tucked under my leg if I so cared to. Freedom from standard controller "locked shoulder" pose, if you will.
How is undocked gyro support in Bazzite?
