Metro Exodus is still planned to release for Linux and macOS

If using a DirectX to Vulkan translation layer means the port isn't native, I'm afraid we don't have many native Linux ports, as far as AAA games are concerned.

The main problem I see with using DXVK is that people know what it is, what it's used for and thus they complain about it. If they had used another layer altogether, nobody would have known what it was and everyone would be having a nice day and all.

Just so you know:

Sigh... 3d API conversion is what makes porting difficult and perfomance to suffer. Other system calls' cost influence on performance pale in comparison.

thx Cap'n

So much for opennes then eh?
Hello there. According to your comments' tone, it seems you desperately yearn for attention, you poor little thing.

So you want game developers to re-write their engine entirely when they port their games to Linux?
If you're nice all year long, and have a strong belief in Santa Claus, maybe your wish to see game studios starting over a 3 years long development process just for you will come true :)

Oh, and those big, bad guys who like open source software, they're just evil, bearded lizards. Everybody knows nothing's better than a good old secret sauce from grandma. They're just commies who want everything for their own. Shame on them.

Re-live the experience of Half-Life with Black Mesa: Definitive Edition out now

No Linux bug fix, still have shadow acne in some places, still no godrays, still no high quality world shadow.
I love Black Mesa, but this update does not bring enough for me to play through it again...

Be assured that as soon as it's released natively on Linux, it's an insta-buy for me.

You can now try the RetroArch Playtest on Steam for Linux

AMD Radeon RX 6800 and the RX 6800 XT are out today

The Radeon RX 6700 (XT) cards are reported to be coming out in January.

Also, I am surprised nobody commented on the astonishing feat that AMD Mesa developers have pulled off here.
Fixing the PCIe reset bug (watch the Level1Linux video) that plagued the last few generations and finally delivering the same performance compared to NVidia. If you look at the Phoronix results, you will notice that the Radeon 5700 XT is far slower than it is on Windows, relative to NVidia's cards.
And all that on day one, which is a first for AMD's Mesa drivers, I think!
Looking at benchmarks on Windows, I don't know what you are talking about, RX 5700 on Linux sits just where it should, which is just between RTX 2070 and RTX 2070 SUPER...

Fedora's linux-firmware package with support for RX 6800 series is now stable.

Quoting: slaapliedjeAlso did discovery that nvidia now has an official means of installing for RHEL/Cent and Fedora, so you don't even need rpmfusion anymore (well unless you want 32bit support, doesn't seem like they care about that, as they're more focused on the drivers being used for server side stuff, as you know that's how they make their Linux money.)
This is not true, Fedora allows adding Nvidia drivers on default installations using a separate repository which is actually managed by RPMfusion, which is not related to Nvidia, and that you need to enable manually.

As much as I understand that you had to mess with Mesa quite a bit in the past, here it seems AMD just did the best they can to add their new GPU to the open source stack as early as possible.

Yes, Debian stable is not a bleeding edge distro so you will either need to wait for a new release or to use testing, but that is something that you expect from a more "conservative" distro, and an issue not limited to GPUs.

Here on Fedora 33, Mesa, LLVM and the kernel are up-to-date, and I just noticed the updated firmware package is built and in testing, so we can consider it to be compatible from day one.

Well done AMD!
Now I'm just dreaming of a Ryzen 5800X + Radeon RX 6800 rig, but I need to save some money first...
