Quoting: omer666Are you having black trees in-game? I just bought it and it's annoying me a great deal, I think it's going to be a refund.
which drivers are you using if you are using 384.98 dont there are issues making performance worse with that series of drivers roll it back to an older driver should see performance gains they are working on fixes.
In fact I haven't had any performance problems so far with 387.34, it was what I suppose to be shader problems, for which I found a fix (see my comment a bit earlier), but thanks for the tip.

I love DoW III and the game gets better with each update. I hope there's an incoming expansion...

Welcome to the supposed perfect NV drivers :P
As soon as AMD releases a Radeon GPU that offers the same power efficiency as my 1050 Ti, I am pretty sure I'll switch over to AMD + Freesync screen. But for now, Nvidia's hardware still has my preference.

I have found a workaround for my problems though: I needed to turn the paged memory to High. If it can help...
I take it the new AMD APU's due out have peaked your interest then? they seem to be at 1050 level perf from whats been floating about.
In fact I missed on this piece of news because I am not that interested in APUs, but I'be been reading a lot of rumours about AMD's next-gen GPUs.

It is said that they will get multiple cores with a more decent TDP. Also if I upgrade I'd want something at least more powerful than what I have now because investing in hardware is not something I can allow myself to do too often...

Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition is coming from Beamdog, Linux support confirmed
21 Nov 2017 at 6:45 pm UTC

OK, I've found back the open source tools for Neverwinter Nights, and they run on Linux:
neveredit [External Link]
Contains both neveredit and neverscript, it seems they don't do as much as the Aurora toolset does, though.

That's great news! I hope this means we'll be able to get an enhanced NWN 2 some day as well!
Also about the expansions, I saw a trailer which said the game combined all the content of the Diamond Edition.
And if the game is mod compatible, you can pick one of the original editors for the game. At the time i had an open source editor on the Mac, but I can't remember it's name...

Intel announce a new CPU with AMD graphics and HBM2 memory

Quoting: EikeNow this is wild and crazy. Just when AMD attacked them on the CPU front...
Indeed. I wonder what lead them to this deal.
Ofc, this will get AMD some money but waters out the
significant advance when it comes CPU+GPU package domain.
Doesn't look clever to me but I hope they know what they're doing.
It became possible because Radeon Technologies Group (the graphics part of AMD) took back its decisional independence not long ago.

F1 2017 released for Linux as Feral Interactive’s first Vulkan-only title, here’s a port report

Quoting: omer666As usual, the Linux port seems to be bottlenecked, which can possibly translate in performances more comparable to Windows with more modest hardware, but it's not always the case.
Well, it depends. Looks like liamdawe runs into a CPU bottleneck at around 120fps when lowering the settings, so a lower end CPU will only make the comparison look worse for the Linux port. A lower end GPU however might favour Linux because the CPU bottleneck becomes less important.
Yes, it does look like it's a CPU bottleneck, but what I meant was that sometimes, things are not that obvious, so we need much more benchmarks to understand the problem.

As for the problem of CPU bottleneck in Linux games in general, that's true most of the time, indeed. That's why I got a Core i7 and "only" buy low/middle range GPUs.

You also have to consider the fact that Linux drivers are usually lagging behind in terms of game-specific optimization.
