Man, I am done with this company. Already done so much damage to the industry, can't wait to see what else they've got to give...

Battlefield V now broken on Steam Deck / Linux with EA anticheat live

I used to play a decent amount of BFV. I bought it again on steam late last year (far easier than Origin was and I got that one for free), wonder if I can still return it. What a waste.

As for alternatives, the closest battlefield alternative is BattleBit Remastered. Good fun game.

I also absolutely adore Red Orchestra 2, though it's a bit more tactical and hardcore than battlefield is (also a lot older than BFV).

Valve fixes up Steam Remote Play - again

Hmm, was hoping this would fix the issue I'm having. After upgrading to Plasma 6, I can no longer remote play to my Steam Link on Wayland (input streams back to PC, but no visual to Link except for alt tabbing causing a green rave).

It's a shame, I use it an awful lot to play local coop games - pretty much every day. X11 has its own issues.

Slightly regretting the Plasma 6 upgrade already honestly, my lock screen is now also broken and there's been a little instability.

Plasma 6 lands in Arch Linux, KDE neon teething issues and Plasma 6.1 heating up

Broke Steam Remote Play completely for me on Arch + Wayland. I'm unsure if it was all remote play, or just to the Steam Link. Inputs were transmitted back to my PC but no visuals (And I believe no audio) were streamed from my PC to the TV. When alt tabbed to a window that wasn't steam, the TV would flicker with a green square. No idea what that was about, but gave a couple of us a headache from the flashing lol.

Worked again when switching to X11, though X11 has its own problems with remote play and certain games. Plus, I just much prefer Wayland ever since I switched to an AMD card.

That aside, excited to try out some of the improvements this brings along.

Spec Ops: The Line gets delisted on Steam - you can still buy it elsewhere for now

I remember playing this on my GT 710 years ago a little after the native port came out. Was one of the earlier AAA games I played thanks to the native build. It ran like absolute trash because of my system, but it was incredibly memorable. Gameplay wasn't anything super special, but I still found it pretty fun - but ziplining across the sand-covered Dubai always looked so pretty (even on my rig back then) and the story was so interesting. Also gave me nightmares, but that's besides the point.

Might spin it back up, I imagine my XTX will be able to work a little harder at it haha.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl releases September 5th, 2024

Not absolutely certain there won't be another delay later down the line, but still. I am cautiously excited for this game, and hope it comes out polished and successful. Hopefully they'll be able to make good use of the delayed time and fix it up on the technical side... also hopefully without too much crunching.

Is there any case/shell compatibility with this? My one is pretty t h i c k so I doubt it'll work. Don't completely trust myself to run around with the deck naked.

Hell Let Loose now works on Linux / Steam Deck

Cool, I can claim this key from the humble choice it was in maybe... a year ago?

Happy to hear though; always wanted to try this game out and as always it's just nice to see more developers add support.

R6Siege is the big one left for me, and I'm not particularly desperate for it. Dead By Daylight and For Honor were both games I played a lot on PS4 and just did away with when I switched back to PC only, but they're both working within the last year so I'm pretty chuffed. Though that said, For Honor was an addiction I'm glad i have not regained.

Humble Choice for November has Prodeus, Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Friends vs Friends

Pretty happy with this selection - Prodeus, Unpacking, and SCP Secret Files have been on my wishlist for a while and the only game I already own on there is Friends vs Friends, and I have a buddy who's been feeling left out on that to give it to so nice all round for me.
