Blending GTA with Deus Ex, Streets of Rogue 2 gets a first trailer

Excited for this! Adore the first game - think it's one of the most creative indies I've ever played, and the amount of agency it gives the player is imo unparalleled. Developer is great too.

2024 suddenly seems way too far away!

5 years ago Valve released Proton forever changing Linux gaming

Oh man, can't believe it's been 5 years already
I remember trying to get warframe to work on linux over the course of a few years prior to proton. Always still somewhat broken, and eventually gave up on it to play other games. Now, it's click and play (though the curse of the 1000+ library; I still don't play it!) as are almost all my games.

I used to spend hours on each game to get it to work, and now I feel I am far more tech illiterate than I used to be simply because I have not *needed* to tinker far in depth for any game in the past couple years.

The steam deck too, that as a product is mindblowing to me and I love mine so much.

Excited to see how it carries on moving forwards.

Prism Launcher for Minecraft Java has a nice bug-fix release out

I love this launcher.
It has a dedicated cat button.

Can I ask what that DeckPack is? I've not tried MC on my deck yet, but that would actually be perfect

Tencent to get a majority stake in Dying Light dev Techland

Genuinely pretty gutted about this. Techland is one of my favourite game developers, and I hoped to work for them in a couple years. They've been pretty close to my heart with the games they've published and the community they built. But I guess no more. Damn.

I'm beyond sick of these monopolistic practices. Ugh.

Happy Birthday to GamingOnLinux - 14 years old today

Happy Birthday GOL!

Been a reader of this site for many years before I made my account. Glad to see how much it has grown, especially with the deck! It's my go to site for checking out what's happening with gaming in general, and procrastinating work

AMD GPUs to get Ray Tracing turned on for Mesa 23.2

7900 XTX here, quite looking forward to trying this out. Is there a list of games with this working anywhere? I own DOOM Eternal, but not sure I can be bothered to reinstall and replay it just for RT hah.

I know it's definitely a gimmick, but one I'd like to try anyway

Overkill drops Linux support for PAYDAY 2

Very disappointed with this to be honest. Payday 2 was one of the first games I was amazed to have linux support, I played it so much at that point.

I understand their reasoning, though in my opinion it doesn't bode well for Payday 3.

Discord username system changing to make it easier to find people
7 May 2023 at 10:34 am UTC Likes: 1

I much prefer the current system, having the numeric ID is so much nicer than just sticking numbers into your name. I'm not looking forward to this change at all, and it's not something they're likely to back out of now. Discord had been good for so long... how much longer before it is worth looking for an alternative instead?

The Humble Heroines Bundle is an awesome deal for Steam Deck and Linux Desktop
11 Mar 2023 at 2:10 pm UTC

Just purchased the bundle, though already owned Control and Hellblade. Particularly excited to try Sable.

Side note, not sure if anyone is aware but if using the link Liam gives you, when adjusting where your money goes, an extra option is given to choose how much of your purchase goes to GamingOnLinux.
