They released the macOS version so there's a native Apple Silicon version instead of people just running the iOS version like they were doing. Running the iOS version on an Apple Silicon Mac gives the incorrect scores. If I'm ever able to get a new Mac mini like I want, it'll be cool to be able to benchmark it.
As far as the conspiracy theory above goes. As bitter towards my old boss and UL as I am for being laid off last year due to cutbacks, just weeks before their IPO. (I was in infotainment testing here in Detroit.) I don't think it's anything like that, even as an anti-capitalist. I'm glad that they're taking Linux seriously and taking their time working on a native version.
