Microsoft wins against FTC to buy Activision Blizzard

The only positive outcome from this merger is Microsoft cleaning house and lessening the toxic culture at Activision-Blizzard.
Outside of that, this is shit. I don't trust Microsoft. Whether it's this, or their "<3" Linux crap. I know it might sound paranoid. But I feel that the latter is just them trying to ruin Linux from the inside. I remember the old Microsoft and their practices. They're back at it buying whatever they can. Though if they do somehow managed to ruin Linux. At least there's still FreeBSD.
I only use Microsoft products and services when I absolutely need to. Then when it comes to gaming I'm not an anti-fanboy. So if a game is on Xbox that I want. I'm not gonna miss out on it. Plus my pirating of most of my OG Xbox games cancels that out anyways. XD

If I had built my own gaming PC I'd have probably bought a new old stock ATX beige mid-tower case with a fan port on the side. Either that, or still got a black case with a window, but then put bitchin' blue cold cathodes in it. To have that sorta aura that you just can't get with LED. For a lack of a better way to put it: LEDs have "sharp" light. While cold cathodes have a "dull" light, but that's actually in a good way. lol

I don't really care for RGB and LED lighting in PCs. I liked cold cathodes, and even miss beige cases and 5¼" external drive bays. But cause of the parts shortage, I was forced to buy a gaming PC instead of building one. (Thankfully Micro Center's house brand PowerSpec just uses off the shelf parts.) But it came with RGB, and cause of that I went and made it sarcastic with the RGB and added even more to it. So this will be cool to see if it works better with my setup now. lol

This info is really interesting and cool.
Though I tri-boot Linux Mint Cinnamon, GhostBSD Xfce, and Windows 11 Pro. Linux being my main OS. Windows for things and games that aren't Linux native, and GhostBSD cause it's cool to use sometimes. Plus a Mac mini for macOS too. lol
However plebian on-board sound is a disgrace. I'm glad that my Sound Blaster AE-7 works *better* in Linux than Windows. The native Windows 11 drivers don't actually properly save your speaker setup settings, and I'm forced to run Creative's software instead. In Linux it's just "Set it, and forget it!" like the old Ronco infomercials. XD
(The plebian thing was a joke. Since tone doesn't translate over text well. 😛)

I just wish that they'd actually hire people instead of just using contractors. I've worked contract jobs before, and it's always in the back of your mind about the lack of job stability and/or security. Plus it would just make Valve's work on Linux look that much more serious, I feel. Cause then they'd have taken time to actually hire workers themselves.
Sorry if this is a bit off subject, but I feel that it's something that needs to be thought about more.

Quoting: neolithMy whole thing about buying some Play Anywhere games from Microsoft is basically to make my Xbox Series X less useless. It all depends on the game. If I want it on PC and it's Windows only, is single player or has cross-platform multiplayer, and is Play Anywhere. Then I get it from Microsoft. However, if it's got Remote Play Together on Steam, then that bypasses Play Anywhere. While on the other hand, native Linux support bypasses everything on PC, and I always try to get that version if I can. Though I find it annoying when some developers don't put their Linux (or 64-bit Mac) version on Steam or GOG, and leave it stuck on itch.io or something. 😑Quoting: Linux_RocksWelp, I bought it from Microsoft for the Play Anywhere, and it was before I knew of a native Linux version in the works too. At least my friends have it on Steam, and I can just remote play with them I guess. I'd have gotten it on Steam had I known better. This happens with games every now and then. You buy it on one storefront, only to later wish that you'd have gotten it on another instead. *sighs*While it sucks to buy twice, you could think about getting it on Steam, too. Far from a perfect solution, but the game is on sale for something like 4$ every once in a while and it is a pretty good game.
That being said... while my experience with games on Linux is limited, I would never bet on Microsoft to make your life any easier. Vampire Survivors runs pretty well with Proton even on slower hardware and if there ever is a chance for a game to have a native version I recon your chances are much better going with Steam than with the MS Store.
