Aspyr Media state they are looking at ways to improve Civilization VI performance on Linux
16 Feb 2017 at 7:28 pm UTC

Good port? it doesn't have borderless window fullscreen (always comes back up automatically and misaligned when you tab out) and crashes once or twice before it actually loads a game. Also creates a "FiraxisLive" folder in my home directory, where it doesn't belong. That's not that great.

At least sound works without pulse, unlike XCOM 2, which still plays loud static after the intro videos.

Early Exclusive: Civilization VI to release February 9th for Linux with a discount, NVIDIA only for now

I honestly don't get why this game needs so much graphics power. Tried it on my laptop under Windows, benchmark gets about 20FPS on lowest settings. It really doesn't look that great either. What's the deal with Firaxis games and bad performance?

Wasteland 3 now on Fig ready to be funded, nearly hit the goal already

Quoting: GuestI was tempted to try investing into the game. What's the deal with Fig being shady?
Its ties to Tim Schaefer, for the most part. DoubleFine abandoned Space Base DF9 (an early access game) and messed up/heavily delayed the second part of Broken Age (a Kickstarter game). Fig is their own crowdfunding platform, and some people (rightfully so, IMO) think that it's not a good idea to have them collect money for Psychonauts 2 on there. They have shown to not be able to manage money, teams (like the DF9 one) and time, so removing all oversight and protection that a site like Kickstarter would provide while also being more closely involved with the projects they host (acting as some sort of publisher) seems like a terrible idea.

Here's a breakdown of who they are and what they do: https://techraptor.net/content/fact-or-fiction-psychonauts-2-and-fig [External Link]

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, Chaos Rising and Retribution announced for Linux this month!

I'm glad they are doing this, singleplayer works in WINE but multiplayer, at least for me, always disconnects after a minute or so.

A Linux release for Kingdom Come: Deliverance still looks very unclear

I have asked them to comment on the video and the state of the Linux port, to which they replied

We have no news yet regarding the Linux version.
I also asked for a refund in that case and got it, so that's good. This situation really sucks because I do want to support this developer, but promising a port and then backtracking is a big hit to my trust in them. I'll get the game if it turns out well though, that's for sure.

Nvidia beta driver 370.23 has initial support for PRIME Synchronization

Well, this driver sometimes gives me diagonal screen tearing in Firefox, which is new.

Mojang working on new launcher for Minecraft, Linux might not see support

What's more concerning is the development of the new client, and how they keep avoiding the word "Linux" with that. I've written an article [External Link] about that a while back, hope it's okay to link it here.

Mighty No. 9 looks like it's gearing up for a Linux release
29 Jun 2016 at 6:42 pm UTC

I have played it for a bit. The levels are boring and too easy, save for a few really unfair/frustrating segments that involve instadeath. Boss fights suck because of the huge health bars and the need to do the dash move on them to stop them from regaining health - sometimes you just can't reach them. Speaking of the dash, it works well but I wouldn't have made it such a central gameplay element. You basically have to use it on all the enemies. Also, the voice acting is Sonic level bad. It's not the worst game ever by any stretch of the imagination, but it feels kinda pointless when things like Shovel Knight exist.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive adjusts full screen modes for Linux to help with performance

Quoting: Blodoffer
Quoting: kshadeNope. Don't know what could be causing this tbh, I'm using Funtoo with XFCE as my DE, no Pulseaudio but that probably isn't the issue...
Check if you have multicore rendering enabled or run "mat_queue_mode 2"
You were right, I'm getting > 120 FPS on Linux with mat_queue_mode 2 and multicore rendering on. Thanks for your help!
