Quoting: NanobangWell, I've watched the trailer, and I'm still interested in Hellpoint, that's for sure; though, it does look a little "souls-like" at times, doesn't it?I've played the demo, and that's pretty much exactly what it is.

It runs nicely, played it a bit yesterday, but I had to delete ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/pinned_libs_64/libstdc++.so.6 because it's too old for the game to run. Using the current Steam beta client.
Plays like a combination of the type of old-school tactics game Slytherine makes and Civ.

Will you be getting it at release?I very well might, AdMech is probably my favourite 40k faction and I like XCOM-like games.

Okay, this stuff is really starting go on my nerves. Either external porting companies like Aspyr and Feral need to get it together when it comes to multiplayer or the companies hiring them must integrate them better. First-party/consultant-made ports (which pretty much always seem to work out better it seems) don't have these issues, and they also don't have delayed patch releases. We've had ports that work just fine between operating systems for a long time (like UT99), I wonder what the roadblock is now. Can't imagine that it's really just the often-cited random number generation, that would be really kinda embarrassing and sad for all parties involved.

That shouldn't be seen as entirely lost income thoughIt should not be seen as lost income in any way, ever, at least not for games that are longer than 2 hours.

I'm referring to the shitstorm on Twitter and on sites like Polygon. Ben Kuchera refused to even ask Soret for a statement in his hitpiece (one of many) on the guy because he has "super shitty views that directly hurt other people" while some developers from other companies called him "garbage" and worse, threatened to torrent and seed his game and called for outright, ideological vetting of colleagues, McCarthy-era style.
All this over a couple of years-old tweets that aren't even inflammatory or hateful.

Quoting: BeamboomI misspelled "wrongthink".Quoting: kshadeWould be great if this site could just not parttake in the outrage-baiting "cleanse the industry of wrongthing" nonsense at all.I don't understand what this means? "cleanse the industry of wrongthing"?

Quoting: RaVenThis looks very cool. Still deciding on how to get into the whole 40K universe. (Never played the table top games)If you have the time to read a novel, try Dan Abnett's Xenos from 2001. If you don't, here's [External Link] the very basic gist of it in a minute.

Quoting: liamdaweI'm using XFCE, not issues with anything else.Quoting: kshadeGood port? it doesn't have borderless window fullscreen (always comes back up automatically and misaligned when you tab out) and crashes once or twice before it actually loads a game.Sounds like an issue with your WM, never had that issue.
