Quoting: ElectricPrismThank you for sharing your info. I think 6 months is too long to wait for the boost. I use my Linux PC professionally for work and need the best right away. I think I'll wait a few weeks and grab a xfx if their brand is good.Quoting: niarbehtI wouldn't mind spending $300-400 on a even more dope RX 490, but I'm not sure how long before that will be a thing, have cash - want awesome open source graphics card.Looks like the RX 490 will arrive [External Link] at the the end of this year or (early) 2017 according to the AMD roadmap.
So it's up to you if you want to wait at least 6 months for the RX 490 or get a RX 480 right now.

I'll buy the Linux version when it appears on this website as released for Steam and reviews confirm it's not a flop with 80% + Meta score.

If I pull the trigger on this my Steam Summer Sale gaming upgrade will soar to $500, temptation is a b***.
But seriously, I'm contemplating trading out my GTX 970 for the RX 480 - performance seems comperable, and I'm annoyed with how my HDMI monitor has corrupted graphics or crashes my Gnome Session after leaving the computer a couple hours.

Only problem is I think if I go red I'll probably buy at least 3 Red Cards :\ WTH am I supposed to do with 2 970s and a 750 Ti SC :(

Mighty No. 9 looks like it's gearing up for a Linux release

I hope they didn't suffer from the 2D -> 3D timing problems that a lot of 3D platforms suffer from.
Timing on jumping in 2D games like Super Mario Bros used to be calculable so you could be precise and the movements of Mario were predictable, also world enemies, etc... operated on a similar clock related to the refresh rate and so on.
Hopefully the mechanics are sound.

Quoting: HomepcgamerIm waiting for it, but the reviews are pissing this game. People expected a Megaman clone, and seems it isnt, btu seems a good gameAfter a couple hours I would love to hear a update, sometimes public critique can be harsh.

Humble PC & Android Bundle 14 is live!

Pass. None of the games look that amazing at face value - but by all means correct me if I'm wrong.
HB feels like they've run out of great content versus how many times they do a bundle each year.
Also, the whole "Humble" element is completely destroyed by creating price tiers to buy into. Of course I still respect their role in helping out Linux gaming, but lately their bundles are flatline to me.

I got a copy myself last week and I think it's fun. The reasons I got it were this
- Full Controller support for Big Picture
- Major Name Title
- The Alternate Environment Levels were really smart and I love them
- Multiplayer is a ruckus
I plan on building or buying a Steam Machine other than my current i7-6700k Mini ITX build with SteamOS at some point. Hopefully the RX 480 is amazingly good, the open driver will be a killer thing.

I'll be surprised if they don't raise 1 million, and I won't be shocked if they raise 2 million.
System Shock 2 remains in my top 5 games of all time, the story is amazing, even my Linux rig is named Citadel, I can't wait - but yeah no I'm not buying if it's not on Linux.

Every one us us has made a impact by all our actions to help create a lightning rod and it's working. GOL has served as a gaming hub to centralize and perpetuate excitement, and we've started the avalanche.
25% of Steam Games on Linux or 2,500 games is an amazing accomplishment. If you could do one thing to help the future, a worthy cause would be protecting them from closed software systems (not applications) destined to lead to dystopia, greed and corporations forcing users to play their game with their rules their way.
We don't even have to do the heavy lifting and write kernel code, allz we gotta do is play games on Linux, buy them to infuse money into the market, and cause a rukkus drawing attention to how awesome our platform is because our games will run quite probably forever. No N64 cartridge not working on GameCube, no Wii Rom Downloads not transferring to Wii U or whatever... If you buy it on Linux you can use it quite probably forever and with whatever controller your <3 desires -PS3, PS4, X360, XBONE, Wii, etc..
Special thanks for Windows 8 and Windows 10 for doing everything wrong possible to wake up their users to look for other options.

Quoting: qchtoI will keep an eye on this game and definitely buy it the day it releases on Linux, but I have seen enough kickstarters to understand that:You may be tempered by the cold realities of _life experience_ but don't let that take your joy away - look at the huge success Linux has had as a platform in the last couple years partially due to people baiting developers into promising "Linux Support".
Linux as a stretch goal = Linux as an afterthought = Very unlikely day-1 release (or no release nor refund option at all)
Sorry if I sound cynical, but this has been my experience so far with most projects "using linux as bait" I decided to support (MN9 being the latest example), so I'm out.. That said, I'll be glad to be proven wrong.
