They call themselves a Game Store despite not having customers/gamers to buy stuff
Not much of a game marketplace is it?

Quoting: pb( I think of Monty Python's Cheese Shop skit )Quoting: EhvisSo basically Epic is still trying to please the publishers instead of the customers while the latter is the only potential source of income. They've been this way from the start and it's taken them nowhere so far.

Epic Games reduce their cut for Unreal Engine games for same-day Epic Store launchesI'm pretty sure that is illegal and that other companies have been litigated against for this kind of thing.

I wonder if they will ever add a horizontal or vertical scrolling to the Tiling Workspace.
I found this feature to be intuitive and groundbreaking ( https://github.com/YaLTeR/niri [External Link] )
NewM is interesting in this regard too doing "Scrolling" ( https://invidious.privacyredirect.com/watch?v=dCHtwyD1wzo [External Link] )
After nearly a decade I finally understand what Gnome was "trying to" accomplish with Gnome 3. The only problem is that windows needed to not just tile left, right, and fullscreen and then scroll vertically between workspaces -- they needed more complex tiling and minimum window sizes with sizes declared by each app, and to use that in combination with tiling and scrolling.
In any case I really hope System76 and Cosmic do more groundbreaking and exciting stuff -- their work so far is impressive, refreshing and interesting

Valve (Steam) begin a direct collaboration with Arch Linux

It is nice to see Valve involved at every level of the Linux Platform. All of these improvements up and down the stack are so much more effective and optimized. It would be nice to see if Valve can solve the anti-cheat using signatures though as always I trust their intuition. They have been true stewards of the source and companions over the years.
Major flaw found in CUPS - time to run Linux system updates

(Of course this implies eliminating cups from all LAN devices except the print server which is connected via USB or whatever.)

Quoting: elmapulits even possible to fix that without breaking the functionally of all existing printers?Create a MITM Print Server? Maybe from a Raspberry Pi? As for how you get the files from the device to the print server -- that's up to you really.

Frog Protocols announced to try and speed up Wayland protocol development

WayPipe allows streaming applications over SSH.
Maybe some Server Client Stuff to mimic X2Go and X forewarding or whatever it's called.
And maybe some clipboard stuff like noted in the article linking up Wayland and XWayland clipboards.
Nothing really jumps out at me.
Maybe I can't do stuff when applications need to play catchup like WINE just isn't able to scale applications (StarCraft 1) on Wayland like 800p up to 3840p or Krita waiting on v6.0 and Qt6 for Wayland support.
I don't come up with a whole lot, and efforts like this to close the gaps are more than welcome, Valve has done a tremendous job getting the (linux) "ship" upgraded and optimized.

Quoting: WMan22I also don't like the tendency to say "Xorg is dead" [...] while I'm not Xorg fan, understand why it's deprecated, and really appreciate a lot of what Wayland is doingAs a regular use, I'm almost scratching my head coming up with a list of things I can do in X that I can't do in Wayland.

CoreCtrl adds power profiles support for AMD RX 7600

Just to comment on AMD PowerColor 7900 XTX -- it's not like 6900 XT -- I set an aggressive fan curve and have [ Performance Mode Fixed ] set to [ High ] and it makes no difference in fan speed.
Maybe I should report a bug? Or maybe the GPU is working as intended (still 55-62 C idle seems high).
Or maybe the 7xxx series is different somehow that hasn't been accounted for just yet.
In any case it's great to see the RX 7600 added. Dollar per Value I might buy 1-2x 7600 for LAN rigs now that my other LAN rigs just got their 6900s. The 480, 580 and 590s are starting to get old, I really did like the Mini ITX RX 5500 but these days with the increased cost of parts and the weird shortages Mini ITX just isn't optimal when you building all these makeshift LAN rigs out of whatever extra you have laying around.
So far 7xxx on Linux has been excellent, 4k gaming in Gnome and Sway -- Baldurs Gate 3 runs like a dream. And lately I've switched exclusively to Steam Deck as my "Controller" -- So I load the games up on the big screen and then use the WIFI "Stream" to handle the controller input (XBONE and DS4 are a chore recompiling the kernel modules every time there is a update and messing with all these obnoxious dongles.)
CoreCtrl has been fairly good. It's just too bad that they don't have a systemd service or daemon -- Sometimes our Linux users forget to put in the password after login and then their machines overheat and have to stay powered down for a few minuets to boot.
I could almost see a new project at some point take all the good from CoreCtrl and OpenRGB and combine them into one someday.
AMD has been good to me.

Thank Disney corp for making Patents a tool of lawfare.
I know this is a bit premature but this Japanese-executive mindset is daft. I wouldn't be that surprised if this failure to read the room leads to the total annihilation of Nintendo as a company in the next 10 years.
After Miyamoto goes they might as well kiss their ass goodbye.

The Samurai Jack game is pretty fun in my opinion, and Duck Game too -- though it's $20 minimum. If I didn't already have them I'm not sure I would know they were good picks or have bought them.
