Apparently I have to pay $20 to get MechWarrior 5.
Sure I could do that and TECHNICALLY save $10 off the current MSRP $30.
But I have no shortage of things to play, it did look fun in one of Liam's live streams a while ago, I think I will wait for the Summer Sale
I don't like Humble Bundle anymore because they changed the entry pricing a lot, and because it feels like a buffet.
If you want quantity and not quality a buffet may be perfect for you, but if you want to eat actually quality food you would never settle for just getting a bunch of [ stuff ] to add to your heap of stuff you didn't really want anyways.

Canonical going 'all in' on gaming for Ubuntu, new Steam Snap package in testing

I'm emotionally conflicted.
On the one hand Ubuntu is * shivers * adequate for noobs. On the other hand Canonical has a LONG history of devoting huge amounts of energy into things against the grain of the FOSS community only to abandon it later.
Canonical are SerialAbandoners™
Canonical MissedTheSteamBoat™
Steam has been on Linux for nearly 10 years now. Canonical giving gamedevs & Valve the finger over the 32-bit thing a while ago and Canonical's business relationship with Microsoft making WSL & WSL2 just makes me not trust them as they are a Microsoft-shill proxy.
Money is one thing, I give money to hundreds of Linux Game Devs, but Microsoft has decades of history, and it's in their interest to inhibit Linux Gaming growth in favor of promoting Xbox and Windows 11. Why would they shoot themselves in the balls & bank when they could just sabotage other platforms through a existing business partner?
Despite what people say about Microsoft being a "Service Company" (SaaS) lately, they still are very much interested in enhancing their Quarterly Earnings and bottom line to please their stock owners and enhancing their Power & central importance in the world of computing -- that will never change.
All of their recent company purchases achieve those enhancements (1) GitHub (2) MineCraft (3) BlizzardActivision etc...

AMD driver work ongoing to help Halo Infinite on Linux and Steam Deck

I hope they succeed, but I'm not holding my breath.
For me the glory days of Halo was Halo 3 which can be played on MCC at least (single-player) I can't recall if they ever sorted out the multiplayer issue with EAC.
I would love to play some Halo on my Linux, but it seems like development has been a car-crash in terms of delivering to fans as it is with no plans for DLC or community building / seasons from the get-go.
If they do it, I'll totally play.

Twitter, Facebook, Gab, TruthSocial, Mastodon and all the [ Social Hubs ] need to interface like Email so people can be "Cosmopolitans" (Citizens Of The World) not some damn captive in some damn walled garden.

Erik Wolpaw to Valve on Portal 3 — 'we should just do it'
20 Apr 2022 at 9:19 pm UTC
Reading these comments reinforces my perspective that people are not aware of how Valve is fundamentally different from your average wall-street company in that
[1] They are privately owned, no stock is traded, meaning they can make business decisions about their [a] reputation and [b] long-term goals not just [c] quarterly profits for wall-street (In other words... capitalism done right where income is balanced against long-term objectives)
[2] Their structure is a bee-hive as pointed out a decade ago in their employee handbook ( https://archive.org/details/ValveEmployeeHandbook/page/n29/mode/2up [External Link] ).
If Erik Wolpaw wants to write Portal 3 (or should I say Portal 2 as 2 was really just a prequel) -- there's nothing stopping him. If he can get a handful of people to join his "committee" the work can be done and stored in internal ValveNET Wiki or whatever until it's time to bring in additional Human Resources to begin the construction phase.
The same place where the Half-Life 3 seed exists and has been planted but hasn't grown just yet.
Valve will always make good things because not only do the customers want Valve games, but because nothing gets done at Valve unless there is passion enough willpower from within.
For example, I knew once Valve Index committee wrapped up, all those hardware and software guys would have freetime to start a new project and Steam Machines v2 (or Steam Deck as it's called) would be inevitable.
Next up is the Valve Index 2 which will likely be a standalone device incorporating all they have learned in Steam Deck.
Will we see Half Life 3 and a new Portal? Likely at some point. Valve Time cooks slowly though, so don't hold your breath for 5 or 10 years.
Also, while Portal 2 dwarfs Portal 1 in popularity and review score, I am one of the few holding fast that Portal 1 was superior. If they do undertake a Portal 3 I would like for them to return to the calculated cold mechanical sociopathic GlaDOS inspired by System Shock's Shodan instead of the Portal 2 one which just "called you fat" and used other low-blow humor. Everything else about Portal 2 was phenomenal except they got the personality profile on GlaDOS slightly wrong. Wrong enough to hit a nerve.

Not very likely to happen.

I really love the system shock vibe of this game & the video showing the mechanics. This has been on my watchlist for months, I'm very excited -- few games capture that "fun" feeling -- but I get lots of good vibes from this and have high hopes.
