C4 Engine Drops Linux Support, Developer Says Linux Is Inferior

wait.. so the guy is trying to install 14.04 on "new, high end" hardware? NO FREAKIN WONDER! The 14.04 live usb wont boot up right with my hardware (x99, maxwell) even with "nomodeset" to "bypass" the nouveau. 14.10 however does start up just fine with nomodeset during boot with its "newer" 3.16 kernel. I use it to image my OS drives about once a month.
When I swapped out all the 990FX/FX-8350 stuff on this machine to the new X99/5930k with Arch I didn't have to do ANYTHING but plug the drive in and boot it. Windows on the other hand.. ppfffttt.. it freaked out (as per usual).

Western Digital Green HDD, How To Stop Them Dying On You

Have 2 WD green drives. Luckily I've not had problems, but the fix is applied now! THANKS SKULLY!
WDC WD20EARS-00S8B1 2TB caviar green (2-3-ish years old) - 193 Load_Cycle_Count 0x0032 149 149 000 Old_age Always - 155898
WDC WD10EADS-00L5B1 1TB caviar green (who knows) - 193 Load_Cycle_Count 0x0032 198 198 000 Old_age Always - 7939
So does this only affect newer drives? Was surprised to see the oldest drive to have such a low count. It is where I stick games when I'm done playing them and want them off of my SSD and don't want to just uninstall them. My other drives are Seagate drives and they all seem to be "normal".

Well that is unfortunate. From what I have gathered the guy just basically rage quit. I'm really curious what his issues were as I don't see anywhere he has outlined them. The only thing I see was a tweet complaining about ubuntu freezing before login.
Oh well.. it is unfortunate to lose the engine for Linux, but at the same time it doesn't seem like we are losing much if anything.. I don't see a single one of those games available for Linux now and the only one to mention Linux was his own game "The 31st" which doesn't look at all interesting based on the clip I just watched.. so move along.. nothing to see here.

Sounds like it could be fun. I like that it isn't so much a sim. I've seen the term arcade used in the reviews on steam. I might have to pick this up when I get paid.

Well that was one of the most damning articles about a game I think I have read here. The people behind this should be ashamed of themselves. The price difference between mobile and PC is what gets me the most seeing as how it is obvious they did JUST enough to get it working and there is no difference between the two versions of the game. So what makes it worth more on Steam vs any other digital distribution source whether we are talking about Google Play, Apple app store or even such horrors as Origin?
Valve needs to start paying more attention to what makes it to their store, I blame them just as much as the devs behind it. I don't know what kind of system would be practical and not overly intrusive but Valve should figure out something.

Well that sucks. Never good hearing things like this about any game. The odds of picking a project back up that was put "in the background" is probably not good. Would be such a waste of the time that already went into it. I probably would have bought it if it came out for Linux.
Valve's Newest Controller Design Looks Solid

I'm reserving final judgement on the touchpads until I can get my hands on one and try it.. but I KNOW that I can't play games on mobile with onscreen "touchpads" worth a crap and that is all I can think about when I look at this controller. I remember watching a video from some event/show with random people trying to use it and pretty much everyone was having trouble with it.

Quoting: N30NI though the same till I was some of the videos on youtube.Maybe it is just me but it looks like he was kind of struggling. His whole execution seemed pretty slow for this game. Would be interesting to see someone use the steam controller against someone with a "traditional" controller.

JUST RELEASE V1 ALREADY! With "steam machines" already coming out sporting windows for the OS and coming with a 360 controller valve has already gimped their glorious Linux based steam machine dreams at best if they have not completely made it DOA. With Linux still struggling in the available games (that sell consoles) department it is going to be very hard to sell a Linux based steam machine that WILL be sitting right next to the windows based ones on the store shelves.. no matter what controller it comes with.
They should have put more time/$$ into getting/helping studios to bring "console selling games" to Linux rather than bothering with trying to come up with a one off controller for it. They could have sold it with a 360 controller (or DS3 if the MS hate runs that deep) and already had 1st gen steam machines out there hopefully gaining traction while working with manufacturers on 2nd gen machines all while working on their controller still.
As much as I hate to say it.. I'm going to ROFLMAO when EVERYONE hates the controller. The "reviews" from hands on experiences that I have read have not been kind.

Good. I wasn't in the party who bashed this as "DRM OMYGERD" but it seemed pointless given how trivial it actually was to circumvent not to mention they should have known they were going to catch slack for it.
My first thought on this whole "fiasco" was why on earth does GOG care if pirates download a malware laden torrent? If your gonna be a pirate then be smart about it or deal with the possible consequences.. period. I also found the point of making sure users install stuff properly to be laughable at best.

Hmm. Looks interesting. The graphics and effects look really good from what I can tell. I'm not typically a fan of top down games like this but there have been some exceptions over the years. OG warcraft 1&2 (not that WoW garbage), starcraft 1&2 and I had a great time with Wasteland 2 even though I'm not really a turn based fan. The trailer is rather short and doesn't really demonstrate much of the gameplay unfortunately. It is a Unity based game so that is already a -5 in my book.. hopefully there are enough +1's to counteract that :P
