GOL Cast: Running Away From Mutants in Metro: Last Light
8 Nov 2013 at 5:48 pm UTC

There is a calculator for the FOV. I found out about it from PCGamingWiki which has other usefull tips. Just type in Google PCGW + Title of the game that you are looking for in this case simply Metro.

Here you will find the FOV Calculator [External Link] it's worth noting that Metro uses vertical field of view rather than more common horizontal. That's why you need this calculator in typical game using horizontal view you would just type 90 to get 90 degrees fov.

Humble Indie Bundle 7!

Exactly Dungeon Defenders is a first Unreal Engine 3 game on Linux (Killing Floor and Red Orchestra are UE 2.5 based).

This opens a possibility for many new games getting a native Linux version. I can already see Sanctum or Q.U.B.E. heading our way.

Interstellar Marines on Kickstarter!
29 Oct 2012 at 9:26 pm UTC

Here get some more of the current crowdfunding games with confirmed or possible Linux version.

Distance it's an arcade racer not the typical racing game (which is a genre of games that I don't like). This is a game made by the same people (atleast few of them) that created Nitronic Rush. They making the new version in Unity engine but unfortunately they aren't sure about Linux. Nobody on the team has expierience with it and they use the stable Unity not the Beta 4 and there is also Wwise. That's an audio middelware which supports pretty much everything besides Linux.

FORCED is a fast-paced cooperative arena combat game. Another game powered by Unity with developers commited to releasing Linux version.

StarForge is a game about gathering resources, building bases, crafting anything you want, and surviving on an alien planet. They plan to release StarForge for Windows and Mac (with possible Linux support after Unity 4 is released).

Strike Suit Zero a space combar game. Unfortunately they included Mac and Linux as a stretch goal at $180 000 (that's $80 000 above the main goal).

You can install and use Adobe AIR 2.6 on Ubuntu and other distributions with this guide. It worked for Botanicula when it was available as .air file and works for other programs.

For example it works for Anodyne it's a game in development listed on Steam Greenlight and there is also Incredipede though it doesn't have a demo version so i don't know how well will it work.

New Valve Linux Blog Post Talks About Performance
3 Aug 2012 at 5:50 pm UTC

Microsoft dropped support for OpenGL with the release of Windows Vista. There were articles about it all over tech sites.

Hovewer it didn't meant that hardware vendors (nVidia, AMD) ripped OpenGL from their drivers. RAGE from id Software still uses OpenGL as graphic API and DirectX for input and sound.
