Well it's been a fun ride for me I had to watch Loki go down when I first started getting into Linux driving me to dual boot for year but have long since left the world of Windows permanently about a year or two before Valve announced Steam was coming to Linux. I had dual booted for years before that spending as much time as I could in Linux but my games ended up making me keep windows around. Since Steam launched it's been really nice for my personal machines to be Windows free even if I still keep up with Windows enough to be able to fix it for other people. It's been a long strange trip watching the dream both start to dies and then be resurrected by Valve in a way not even Loki could match at the time. Now all we need to do is start getting more machines that offer Linux preinstalled for desktop users and we will be there finally.

Quoting: NezchanI never got very far in the first one due to that stupid Adobe AIR thing. I wonder if it'll actually install now that Proton is a thing.I've owned the first one since release on GOG, and the GOG version for Windows seems to run fine for me under Wine. Going to have to snag this one once it comes out.
Edit: According to the compatibility reports page, that's a big no.

I've owned Wayward for a while now. One of the few early access games I've bought in the last couple of years I wasn't disappointed in.

Damn it Liam how many Dungeon crawlers does a guy nee :D Although glad to see this resurgence in the genre these last few years. Now I'm spoiled for choice when it comes to them with out having to dip into older games as much to get my crawling fix on.

Quoting: ObsidianBlkThe Doom engine has not carried a no commercial use clause since the licensed it under GPL. There have already been sold product based off of GZDoom, for one thing there was a limited edition release of Action Doom 2 you could get that came on DVD with a few goodies like a poster.Quoting: liamdaweI think, technically, GZDoom is more a FPS-focused game engine. As such, this would be more of a "Game built on a retro-fps inspired engine"? Or... "Game using a modernized Doom 2 engine"?Quoting: EhvisCalling this a "Total conversion for Doom 2" is a bit silly. There is not a single thing in this game that can be rendered by the original Doom 2 engine.Yeah, I think developers need to work out a new way to describe such things. What would you suggest exactly?
I'm actually curious... is GZDoom free of the original Doom engine source restrictions? That is, could someone make a full game using GZDoom and legally attempt to sell it? I mean, there's Ion Maiden being sold that's based on the old Build engine (Duke 3D), so, there's no reason to think that a game on an old engine isn't a viable sell these days.
