What if my sister lives in my same building but we don't live in the same apartment? Are we not family?
The restriction of the year cooldown and the risk of being banned by what other family members do with your games should be more than enough to control these issues.

Quoting: Mountain ManTypically? My sister lives in a different house, she's not family then? What about people who move to a different country leaving parents or siblings behind? Are they not family?Quoting: BelaptirIt's crap. That makes sense. Family sharing is supposed to be used for, well ,family sharing, which typically means people living under the same roof. It's not meant for sharing with your friends in a completely different residence.
They restricted it so much that you must be in the same household (aka under the same roof) to invite someone. People reporting everywhere that not even if they live in the same building but different apartments works. You need to be under the same roof and, apparently, show activity that proves it.
We thought it was a downgrade because we couldn't invite people from the same region but a different country, but this is even worse.

Quoting: EhvisIt's a downgrade for me. I could lend my games to my sister who lives in another European country when I wasn't playing. With this I can't. Hell, even if we were neighbours door to door, I couldn't. The system is far too restrictive.Quoting: BelaptirIt's crap. And? That's what this is for. Having parents share their games with their children so they don't need to pay for multiple copies unless they want to play together. Before this unintended use was gated by locking down the library. With that relaxed, it's no surprise that they took other measures to force its intent.

FINAL FANTASY XVI comes to PC on September 17 - demo available

About this game, I tried the demo on steam deck. It... Runs. You can get some stable 30fps most of the time. But the cutscenes... God, the cutscenes are awful, the stuttering is so bad that audio goes desynced from the image every time.

Quoting: WorMzyPersonally, I don't think there has been a good Final Fantasy since X-2, and that was only fun because it piggybacked on the world created by X. Hard pass.14, although an MMORPG is probably the best Final Fantasy ever, and in the top 10 jrpgs of all time. It's that good. And nowadays, you can play around 95% of the main story content completely alone. Only some bosses require human companions, the rest can be completely done with AI NPCs.

Quoting: PenglingSomething like that would be most welcome on a properly pocket-sized device, clamshell or not. The Circle Pad worked so incredibly well, and I miss it.I did love that circle pad too. It was awesome. But then I remember that with that handheld console's newer model also came another thing, one born in hell, from the nightmare of Satan itself... The right stick, also known as "The Nipple". There was hate in the world, and then there was something else, something everyone I know felt for that thing.
Battlefield V now broken on Steam Deck / Linux with EA anticheat live

If EA uses its own anticheat, there's not anticheat to buy from third parties so it means more money for the stakeholders.
This causes the inconvenience of screwing Linux users, but do you really think they care a single bit about us?
This is EA, people. It's been very long since they were some sort of decent developer. So long many probably weren't even born.

Quoting: PenglingDon't worry, I'm sure that they'll work fine on the rumoured Microsoft handheld [External Link] - how convenient! [/sarcasm]I don't think that's the intent behind this. In my humble opinion, the issue here is money.

Stop Killing Games is a new campaign to stop developers making games unplayable

There needs to be a change in the way games are sold. A game needs to be an item you purchase same way a physical item.
If you buy a shirt, unless you break it, you will be able to wear it forever.
A game, on the other hand...
However, I'd advocate to further this consideration: not only it's about games that become unplayable because of online requirement, but what abou those that become unplayable in your system after the inclusion of something that wasn't there when you bought it? For example a drm, or invasive anticheat.
I am ok with updating a game to improve it, of course, but what when they break it by making something to stop supporting a system on purpose? (Comes to mind Roblox or the last BS from EA).
