EA anticheat arrives for Battlefield V in April, will break it on Linux / Steam Deck

Lucky for me I don't have those games, but it's still an ass move to do from them. Now I wonder, would I be entitled to a refund if they made the game unplayable in my system even though the time for the refund might have passed? After all, it's not an issue on my end if I can't play a game I bought anymore.

God, I hate AAA companies and what they became...

Steam Families announced with parental controls, no more library locking

So I already tried it and... it's been weird.

We have 2 decks at home, so we both updated to beta and I created a family group to invite the other person.
Right after this, both decks became unusable since there was some kind of problem where trying to access any game would show us a black screen saying that Steam can't find the content and some long error code. No matter if we restarted or anything, gaming mode was unusable.
Fortunately, desktop mode works perfectly.

So, since we mostly play on gaming mode, we reverted back to stable branch and, to our surprise, the family group is still there (not accessible through the steam menu options) and we can play as if we were still in a group.
I guess we'll stay in stable for now, but at least we were able to start the group and share games without the limits from before family groups.

This is huge! And I think it won't be abused as we think. There is a very big problem with sharing with random: if they get banned when using your copy of a game, you will be banned too. So yeah, sure, go ahead sharing your library with randos... Until one of them gets banned in your favourite online game and you get banned too.

To be clear, I am very ok with this as it will prevent you from sharing with people you don't trust. So nice, an awesome change that was about time to happen!!

I've always found it a bit weird that people feel the need to publicly dunk on a game they don't like. Is it just for social media clout? There are tons of games I don't like, but I don't go around saying, "No Dark Souls. Good!" or "No GTA V. Good!" It just seems a bit odd.
Reasoning could be the same for publicly saying you like a game.
Why is it bad to say you don't like a game but it's good to say you like another one?
At the end of the day, both are unsolicited opinions for the rest of us reading them.
No, it's really not. Saying you don't like something and stating it as an opinion is fine. Stating you're glad people won't be able to buy a game in a bundle seems a bit more hostile. If someone could get a discount on a game I don't like, I'd still be happy for them.

When that latest Saints Row game came out, there were people actively trying to cut it down and trying to convince people not to play it like they were on some kind of righteous crusade. it's a big much.
While I agree it's too much, the same happens when a nice game comes out and you see so many people trying to convince you to play the game because it's so good you have to. Marketing is pretty much this. Someone trying to make you buy something instead of letting you decide about it by yourself.

I'm just trying to say that people trying to convince you to do something instead of letting you decide is basically how everything works. And it seems curious to me that we only point it out when they actively try to convince us to NOT do something.

Command & Conquer The Ultimate Collection launched on Steam (and other classics)

Quoting: boltronicsWith these changes, the missing menus will now appear, but they'll be rendered at the top-left hand side of the screen in their native 800x600 resolution (which is quite tiny on my 4k panel). No amount of tinkering I've done so far has been able to solve this.

Furthermore, the actual gameplay is stretched to fullscreen (when it's clearly meant for a 4:3 monitor) and I was unable to find a work-around. The game speed also had to be turned down somewhat or it was completely unplayable. I'm on a 7950X3D, it's possible that YMMV.
For Tiberian Sun, after you've done that, edit SUN.INI (in the game directory) and DDrawcompat.ini and add the desired resolution so the game recognises it.

For Red Alert same, but instead of SUN.INI edit RA2.INI and RA2MD.INI

Weird enough, for some of us in the EU, Populous The Beginning is not showing on the store. However, adding it through this link https://store.steampowered.com/sub/938657/ [External Link] (use the lower add to cart button) will work. Not sure why, but in case you're looking for this game and can't see it (like happened to me), this will help you.

You can give the key to anyone. I have given dozens of Humble games to my family that way.
The issue is not with "giving" but with giving "that" game.
It's garbage, so nobody would like it even for free.

Also, I'm passing on this month too. Half of the games are in my library and I'm not a fan of souls like games

The Pokémon Company confirm investigation into Palworld

Quoting: PenglingThere is some worryingly cult-like behaviour out there regarding Nintendo. I'm a former fan myself, but never fitted in with the fandom because when the company got things wrong, I took issue with it and shared opinions on how they could improve, as any sane person would. That gets you run out of town in those circles
I've been cut out from a chat group because I decided I wasn't having it anymore from Nintendo with all they've been doing. Apparently for some cultists, disagree with Nintendo and treat them like a company and not like a friend is a sin or something. Not that I care tho.

Quoting: ElamanOpiskelijaI see the similarities and to me Palworld clearly looks like a parody. But, is it such a problem that all these people are having fun?
It is, because it's not Nintendo the one making money from it.
And this is extremely bad for both Nintendo and its fanatics.

Since I want to watch the word burn, I'll say that I hope Nintendo sues and wins so Palworld has to close and a massive internet war starts against Nintendo and its fanatics that takes them to the absolute oblivion.
But the world is not made for happy endings so this won't happen.
Instead, Nintendo will try to scare them, Palworld devs will say they don't give a crap, Nintendo will see they can't win this fight so they won't sue, and their fans will be left frothing in the mouth.
Can't wait for that to happen.
