The big Call to Arms update for Valheim is out now

No, you can very well play Valheim solo. I did it twice so far, and the ambient hits even harder that way. And while every loss hurts a lot, the rewarding feeling after soloing a new boss, biome or dungeon, or surviving the long haul of your precious new ore back home while being attacked by sea serpents and abominations - priceless for me. Go give it a shot.
Sci-fi adventure Ultrasound will bring a different kind of body horror

I absolutely can relate to the ultrasound horror. Even if everything is alright, it looks really like a HR Giger fever dream at first. Also, those professionals doing these scans are sometimes at crazy levels of professionality when they zoom around and measure things.
Don´t know if this is for me, though.

The Lenovo Legion Go 2 launches in October - it's heavier and very pricey

I totally agree, this pricing is the wrong direction. I tend to use mostly low-power demanding games on my deck, because if i go for big 3D games, i tend to prefer my laptop anyway.
That is why i love these tiny retro-emulation handhelds (like the miyoo mini etc) next to my other stuff - they are so ridiculously cheap and light, i literally can take them with my wherever i am. Doing a handheld with the weight and price of a gaming-capable laptop should have a hard time finding a decent niche.

I have to make a pitch for Nova Drift. For me, this is a near perfect blend of arcade, roguelike and spaceships. There is a demo, too. :)
PS: how do i link to external sites? Is this standard bbcode?

If i had to pick only one game of all out there, Valheim would be a strong candidate. It was the only game that re-created the magic of being drawn into a procedural generated world like minecraft did back then. Trying to get back your gear that you have worked so hard for after a team wipe with a few friends... sitting around a low-polygon campfire while planning for this, yggdrasil over our heads, strange noises from the near forest. I can´t wait to get back.

German is my native language, but i really often don´t get along with it too well. The only part i liked about it is that you could slap literally all of the necessary words together, like in that title here. :)
But other things i really hate about it, like the way we count. 53 in german is "three-and-fifty". It must be a horrible language to learn for migrants.

Oh damn Liam, these days you keep exploding my backlog to infinity! This one really hits hard. I loved the original, i built cardboard battlestar ships and paper ship consoles by hand as a kid. The Ron Moore reimagination was a total blast for me, i literally jumped when i heard that Adama would be played by Edwward James Olmos.

Oh, and they added Mac support now, too!
I was on the fence before buying and playing this, but man, this is one of the best cities to be around. If you liked the vibes of nivalis, you can get them here too, but on a much more detailed level. I am not the combat kind of guy, but i went with it. The story and narration is - for me - top notch. GTA meets shadowrun (the Pen&Paper one).
Will buy the DLC on the next sale for sure!

Wow... i did not know all this existed on steam, living in my TF2-Pyroesque vision of Germanylands Great Filter.
While i think this is quite comfortable from a parents standpoint, i am not naive enough to think that this is a productive thing. As a parent you have to try to somehow filter some of the worst internet content for your kids. And if you have put a lot of thought in it, you realize how... futile it is in the end. Smart kids always find a way around your fences, and you have to take this hit with a knowing smile.
So, no, i do not like the influence of payment processors in my little steam world. Go play somewhere else. (Insert Monty Pythony Lion Tamer Joke reference here)

For anyone who wants nicer graphics, better viewing distance and a way better performance right now, please give the "Fabulously Optimized" Modpack a try. With Prism or MultiMC, it's directly downloadable within the app from modrinth.
My younger kids have quite potato-speed laptops, and turning the shaders a bit down, the performance is about twice as much as vanilla on those laptops. And it looks way better too.
You can play on native servers with this pack, as long as the base version is the same. Speaking of servers, the performance on the server side is way better, too.
