There's also a Humble Widget [External Link] pre-order option which comes with a Steam key. It's a bit more expensive at the moment though.

The new store front carousel is a mix of featured and recommended games. Could be that it was a recommendation based on games you've played or wishlisted.

Alternatively it could mean that it's one of the games on the radar that's already confirmed for Mac but not yet for Linux. So either Total War or the LEGO Movie Videogame. I'm personally hoping for the LEGO game.
