Quoting: mr-victoryBut android also reports linux, it doesn't make sense. Do they check linux + x86_64?Probably yes. Android adds Android to the user Agent.

Quoting: mr-victoryQuoting: The_Real_BittermanAs a fun side note "Deutsche Bahn AG", the major train operator here in Germany, blocked all Linux users to buy tickets or even look at train schedules online if they detected "Linux" in the Browsers user agent... You could even trigger it by setting the user agent on Windows to Linux. Blocked! But android also reports linux, it doesn't make sense. Do they check linux + x86_64?
Quoting: Liam Squires-HandBut the end service / app / whatever still needs to show they are properly doing these checks. If lawmakers see a simple bypass on Linux, and the service allows it to happen - fines? It’s never as simple as you think. From what I understand, the end service only sees an age response and no other recently introduced, extra info so they have no way of distinguishing and no liability. The fault is at the response generation by the OS, not interpretation by the website / service / app etc.
Quoting: CyberwormMaybe they fixed that. I usually do not use their services in the first place: https://www.heise.de/news/Deutsche-Bahn-Keine-Auskunft-unter-Linux-11300742.html [External Link]Quoting: The_Real_BittermanAs a fun side note "Deutsche Bahn AG", the major train operator here in Germany, blocked all Linux users to buy tickets or even look at train schedules online if they detected "Linux" in the Browsers user agent... Official explanation "Bot protection" yeah ... let me tell you one thing, as someone working in E-Commerce, bots don't run by "Linux X11" user agents. They all mimic Windows 11 or 10. Only half backed bot protection is to check ASN ... but user agents? Ha! Morons...
Anyway. If they even get THIS wrong ... I fear the age of age verification.

If a big player such as Wargaming keeps on enabling EAC for Linux no other dev / publisher has any reason to not support Linux and excuse it with "BuT cHeAtErS aRe On LiNuX!". Apparently it's not that big of a deal.

Well ... historically consoles degenerated over the years. Not a surprise they try to apply life support to their dying platforms in the form of exclusives. It's how Nintendon't (despite suing people) survived the last two decades and yet don't know they are on a dying platform as well.
I mean not even Microsoft realised Windows is a dead platform as well and still clinging to it and just making the live of every Windows users even more miserable every day just because they can not let go and accept the future is cross platform (not web based cross platform)

Discord is finally less of a nuisance to update on Linux

Therefore, what ever you've checked is just plain wrong. Just looking at the maintainers of the github repo doe not tell you anything.
Also the only thing flunky with the flat is that it can not sniff on your running process to show all your servers what your playing or which music you're listening too.
Unless an application specificity uses the discord RPC to tell discord it is running. App -> RPC -> Discord then Discord will show, also the flatpak. What is not working is Discord -> /dev/proc *Sniff, Sniff*

Quoting: DraconicroseYou clearly do not know how verifying work on flathub. You have to be the owner of the com.discord domain and add a link to the discord flathub page or at least the PR where you want it to be verified. So someone at discord has put up a link/token on their homepage to link to flathub. So yes it is developed by discord and therefore official. See: https://docs.flathub.org/docs/for-users/verification [External Link] (or an authorised official 3rd party)Quoting: The_Real_BittermanIt's verified but it's not official. Here: https://github.com/flathub/com.discordapp.Discord/issues/343 [External Link]Quoting: rustynailThen it wasn't the official flat, yes. But it is official since a long time now. I bet there was even an article her on GoL abut it.Quoting: The_Real_BittermanThere are people not using the official flatpak? Geez ...It's actually news to me, I think last time I checked it still wasn't official, and it had a bunch of issues like shipping an old version of discord for months because the current one used a version of electron that broke something. And of course they had to use some weird hack to make an old version work with current servers.
Yep, here: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/10/discord-for-linux-gets-flathub-verified/ 3 years ago
Just because it's verified it doesn't mean that Discord is actually the ones developing/packaging it and, as a result, the flatpak has issues. There's a reason the flatpak isn't linked anywhere on the official discord website.

Quoting: ShabbyXWhat you should never do, is download random binaries off of the internet and run them (because what is this, windows?)You're on Gaming on Linux. So you probably game on Linux yourself. Therefore, you sure do download random binaries from the Internet.

Since flatpak is missing it is probably that.
