Quoting: TheRiddickI think Steam Deck 2 is going to upset a lot of these streaming services because it will be hopefully fast enough and good enough while also being a pretty decent price that most people can just use it, being portable solves the other reason these streaming services offer. For my part, just a docking station where I can slap my own gpu on it and connect it to a Steam Deck 2 would end the debate.

My son is doing the same, on the same network, same cpu, but with a GTX 1660 Super and it's running much smoother.
It's not always a given that you'll have a good experience with Steam Link or Moonlight.

Quoting: Liam DaweAnd, for my part, because I have an RX6600 on my host, my Steam Streaming is pretty garbage (lots of stuttering, input lags, slow downs and resolution artifacts with all of the mentionned solutions). GeForce Now is still the best solution, in my case.Quoting: BlackBloodRumHonestly if you want to stream games just do it yourself with Sunshine or Steam Remote Play.Because not everyone has a full desktop PC capable of it, that's part of the whole point really.
Why pay someone else for something you can do yourself?

Quoting: ElectricPrismNo smart tvs? Personnally I use Nvidia Shields with the Android Steam Link or Moonlight app. Google TV Chromecast is probably good too and cheap. Any Google TV setup box will do, but I hear that Moonlight will give you better performances.Quoting: Mohandevir[...] Nvidia GameStream which was (because Nvidia stopped offering it) the equivalent of the Steam Link app.Since Steam Link has entered the conversation -- what's the best way to Steam Steam within the LAN without any smart tvs? I need to 2x Steam Streams @ 4k.

Quoting: Liam DaweYou seem to be referring to Nvidia GameStream which was (because Nvidia stopped offering it) the equivalent of the Steam Link app.Quoting: LachuI thought NVidia Gefore Now requires NVidia GPU, but Steam Deck have AMD APU :-)It has never required an NVIDIA GPU, that's part of the point of it, it's a cloud gaming service that works mostly anywhere with an internet connection.

I'm still on my founders subscription (30$CAN/6months) and not planning to move from that. Let's see what's in it for me, but 100 hours per month is more than enough, considering it's only a backup plan for my Steam Deck.
Edit: It seems I get the performance plan for the price of my founders sub... So, for a little less than half the yearly bill of a regular sub. Nice!

Half-Life 3 fan game Project Borealis: Prologue gets a Steam page - due out soon

Edit: Giving money for such a game would make me feel like scoring in my own net.

Quoting: GOL_USERI understand all the negative feelings around EU5 but my understanding is that development started on PB before source engine 2 was available. It's have been in the making for a while now and I honestly wrote it off as a project that would not be released. For any random project, I don't really care for UE5 (which as not been available that long). My first choice would be Source 2 or Godot, but for a Half Life game, considering the feud Epic Games is trying to create, using UE5 for an Half Life game is a huge misstep, for my part.
I'm personally still excited that PB is coming out and look forward to it! HL is one of my all time faves.... I'll take what I can get lol.

Quoting: PyrateYep! Built with the engine from the company that vowed (and failed) to destroy Steam perceived "monopoly".Unreal Engine 5Instantly turned off. I mean I know this is a fangame, but anyhthing Half-Life not on Source feels so wrong.
Thank you, but no thank you.
EA / Respawn now block Apex Legends from running on Linux and Steam Deck

Still, it would be a pretty nice solution against cheating, imo.

Quoting: chickenb00This news is sad but expected. The devs know a route to close off some small portion of cheat engines, and that is denying Proton and Linux.Exactly my tought, but it would require heavy hitting servers (meaning lots of investments in hardware for a gaming company) and good internet speed everywhere. This said, they could optimize their games for one set of hardware and one graphical preset, reducing development costs and debugging.
How soon until these MP games are entirely streamed -- you download a thin client which connects to a server, and all gameplay elements are streamed to your PC, MMO-style?
Then mandate controller input only, create some "reasonableness" check for number of inputs received in a given span of time... Eliminate cheat creators by locking down the game so that all you receive is video streamed to your device and your inputs are sent back. That's likely the future of gaming. Once Fortnite or Valorant decides to go down that road, everyone will follow.
Still, it would be a pretty nice solution against cheating, imo.

GeForce Now or other streaming services got you covered for most of these games, if you want to play on Linux. On top of that, the anti-cheat is "server side", meaning on Nvidia's servers and not on your PC. One rootkit/spyware installation avoided.
Steam games will now need to fully disclose kernel-level anti-cheat on store pages

Now I'd like a store filter to filter out these games from my search results/propositions.
