Stellaris is the new early unlock for the Humble Monthly bundle

Quoting: TcheyI don't like to have a "surprise game", and maybe worst, one not for Linux. I prefer to hand-pick my games, so i can (more or less) manage my time and money. From 2017, only Total War: Warhammer would get my intention, but i already bought it before, so...
True enough but it's not my main way of bying games. The vast majority was bought through Steam store. Humble monthly is "running on the side". I would have major second toughts if I bought my games exclusively on Monthly bundle.

It's working awesome!

Since the beginning of 2017, I got Xcom2, Steamworld Heist, Total War: Warhammer, Rive & Dirt Rally via Humble Monthly and I didn't mention the Windows only games that I didn't reclaim.

Also, I easily skipped the month of April bundle because the main game wasn't on Linux (The Witness); if you don't want to completely cancel your subscription you have the option to do so for the next bundle and it resumes afterward.

What more to say?! Satisfied customer.

Feral Interactive have released a new teaser for a Linux & Mac port to come

Quoting: MasterSleortJoking aside (for some other joking...) Now we have to come up with excuses as to why they haven't leaked it yet. It could be that they want to be sure that Feral can actually deliver. Imagine they went out and announced The Witcher 3 for Linux again and then failed to deliver once again. Better to keep it a UFO at Feral and let it disappear in the hopefully very unlikable event that it (whatever it is) could not be ported to Linux.
That gave me an idea: Feral is giving hints so widely interpretable in their radar so that they can relate them to another game if the current port doesn't work out. :D
They don't give widely interpretable hints. It's obviously Nier: Automata.

1) It would be the first Japanese Square Enix game to be on Linux. This explains the Japanese symbol.

2) The letter 茶 is the title from a Nier: Automata subquest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KoM4C8jAfQ [External Link]

3) Feral Interactive loved working with Square Enix at a recent time (Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Life Is Strange, Hitman, Thief,..)

4) Nier: Automata is the best game ever made for many people.

"I don't do reviews; probably going to be my only steam review ever. I estimate exactly 4 people will ever read this. But just putting it out there; this is one of the most beautiful experiences in life I've had so far. Literally nothing I've read, watched or played has actually made me cry, truly; but after finshing ending E, I cried, simply for how beautiful this work of art was."

"Quite possibly one of the best games I've played ever. Definitely sitting comfortably at my GOTY spot until MAYBE something comes along that might dethrone it. But after looking through the rest of the titles that come out this year, highly unlikely that's happening."

"Rare are the moments when I am compelled to take time out to leave a review for a game. In fact, I think I've written only one or two reviews in the 8 or 9 years I've been on Steam. And yet, NieR: Automata has compelled me to leave one. "
I must admint that I wasn't serious with The Witcher 3. Just found the "coincidence" amusing.

This said, I don't know what is Nier:Automata but if Feral could team up with Square Enix to port all of their games over to Linux, that would be awesome! Square Enix has many awesome games.

Looking at all their latest collaborations, it's heading in the right direction, at least. :)

Just adding to the confusion... :)

Could be a reference to Geralt infusing in his bath too... Just saying.

Edit: The link is not working but it refers to "Borch's Weapons" (Téa and Véa)

Look at the symbol... The island of Yamatai is at this the tip of the Dragon's triangle, near to Japan...

Rise of the Tomb Raider confirmed! Lol!

My guess is as good as yours!

OpenGL vs Vulkan in Mad Max, re-tested

Quoting: MohandevirThanks for your insight.

Still the Mad Max experience seem to demonstrate that lower end cpu gains a lot more from Vulkan than i7 cpus. I'm not saying that i3s are going to dethrone i5 or i7. I just think that it will make them valuable entry gaming rigs when it was nearly unplayable not log ago.
It'll certainly help for quite a few games.

Quoting: MohandevirAlso, I have in mind the i3-7320 or i3-7350k and futur iterations with High clock frequencies.

But I'm probably wrong.
We'll see :) I'm just guessing too. Check back in a year and you can tell me if you were right :D
Lol!

That's why I wrote: "Speculation Alert!"

Thanks, I totally respect your inputs, you have much more knowledge than I do about game development. :)

Edit: Btw, keep doing your awesome work! With the exception of strategy games, I bought all the one you ported. The next and only one on my wishlist, atm, is Dirt Rally. It's just a matter of time. My backlog is full! #Thumbsup.

Quoting: MohandevirWe will see a new generation of i3 gaming rigs thus lowering the costs and giving better competition to traditional consoles
Or (more likely?) developers will think we have all these unused CPU cycles now lets push up the complexity some more make use of them! ;) History shows is you have spare cycles people don't make lower powered devices they make more complex games :)
For sure, but isn't it going to be handled by the gpu?
If you have lots of free resources you can always find something for them to do. I also guess the point is games don't ever go backwards in terms of resource demands only forwards. Finally i3 CPUs are already underpowered for certain games (even with Vulkan) so I can't see low powered CPUs suddenly playing high end games at high settings. It will make certain games with certain limitations more playable but it won't suddenly change everything and make an i3 a gaming CPU. The lack of cores for one is a big factor on i3 CPUs.
Thanks for your insight.

I see some kind of Nvidia Tegra (Nintendo switch, Nvidia Shield) pattern being replicated in the PC space, in that case. Big GPU, small cpu.

Quoting: MaCroX95I'd like to confirm that on i5 6600 with gtx 970, the performance gain is enormous, from like 55-60 fps on OpenGL (original 1.0) on a very high preset to a constant 90+ fps which almost catches up with the dx11 version performance (approximately 105fps on average)

So in other words, worse the CPU, bigger the gain from vulkan :P
I see something taking shape here...

Speculation alert!

Vulkan becomes the defacto solution giving Linux a lot more support from game studios and modern i3 cpus able to handle older titles... We will see a new generation of i3 gaming rigs thus lowering the costs and giving better competition to traditional consoles... Linux SteamVR in thee pipeline... Steam Machine 2.0 confirmed!

Just the wishfull thinking of a Linux fanboy. :)
