Because when I use Linux, it feels like it really is my machine.
I do whatever I want and I don't feel borders beacause MS don't want you to do this or that because they want you to buy, buy, buy...
It's all about Freedom!
I turned my Ubuntu 14.04 with Unity (desktop that I prefer) into a Steam Machine (Steam login) and a XBMC center (XBMC Desktop). Do whatever you like and don't wait for any authorization from anybody. I got complete control over MY pc. I choose what I want in it and what I don't want.
Since the realease of Steam for Linux, I turned all my pc into Linux systems. The Linux catalog totally meets my needs for gaming. I don't miss Windows at all.
Anyway, for me having to pay for an OS feels like having to buy the key that will start my car... It doesn't feel right.

Yes, it worked with 331.20 but it's not the best driver for the Maxwell architecure. This is why I wrote "fully supported". 340.32 should include a performance boost too.

Great news!
Nvidia driver 340.32 comes with Maxwell support. My GTX 750 TI is now fully supported and I don't need to install the driver manually.
Now, if a fully operational XBMC could happen, everything would be fine.

The Witcher 2. Since the last updates, it is by far my favorite game.
When I want to relax, Bit.Trip Runner 2. :)
A little of Portal too.

The Steam Controller: Not Everyone Gets It

This said, I would have gladly tried the Steam controller on games like The Witcher 2 and Trine 2. Sometimes in these games, the keyboard can be really difficult to handle.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleWould not want to play a first person shooter with any type of game pad, but for games that require a pointer, like strategy games: perfect! You are totally right but K&M is not really convenient for a "couch experience". This is why they came up with this controller. From what I've seen, it's going to be far better than a XBox controller, IMO.

I might be wrong but I think that one of the trackpad goal is to mimick the aiming of the mouse:
In HL2 all you have to do is point in the direction where you want to go with the mouse and go forward with "w".
The trackpad is there to help you turnaround as fast as a mouse. Not as fast but better than an analog stick. This is what I noticed from the videos I've seen. It's much faster than behing limited to the maximum speed of the stick that gets you shot 2 or 3 times while doing a 180° turnaround.

How To Build A Budget Steam Machine

Personnally, to install the SteamOS session, I use this command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:thor27-gmail/steam-desktop && sudo apt-get update --quiet && sudo apt-get install steam-login --quiet
Found on the french Ubuntu support site:
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/steam [External Link]
Check for #4.
It takes care of everything, even the updates.
EDIT: ATM, to use this command, you need to change the source to Saucy. The Thrusty repo has not been created yet but the developper supporting it told me he would try hard to do so in the next few days.

At least, what is positive, it's the frequency of the game updates. It's the 3 one in about 2 weeks. We can hope for a playable game for all in a near future.
