I'm using OpenMediaVault on a 4-bay Dell PowerEdge R430 that I bought refurb. It's Debian based and founded by the same guy that started Freenas, so I read. Pretty neat.
Nice web interface. It has lots of plugins easy to setup like NUTS to manage a UPS and do a clean shutdown when the electric grid goes down.
Dockers is also supported (integrated to the web interface via a plugin). I run a Plex server and a Nextcloud instance, thus.
I know there are other as valuable solutions, but OMV should not be overlooked, imo.

Anti-cheat will still be one of the biggest problems for the new Steam Machine

Oh! And I just tought about the fact that the Steam Frame, with FEX, could become the development basis for an Arm based Steam Deck 2. Who knows?

All this got me wondering... Totally aware I'm probably off the mark, because things have probably changed, since then, but some years ago, I was an active World of Tanks player. I was using PlayOnLinux and cheating didn't seem much of an issue. I may be wrong about that, though... This said, what Anti-cheat Wargaming is/were they using? Fairplay, if I understand correctly? It's not kernel level AC? Is it an homemade solution?
Hearing the overall discourse about AC, It feels like EAC and Battleye are the only viable solutions, for Linux support... Why such a focus around these two systems?

Yep! Nothing stops Valve from doing a "Steam Machine Pro". Imo, the "fixed hardware configuration" is adressed by the Steam Deck.

Personnally, I have a 4k tv and still play in 1080p. From 10feet away, I hardly see the difference. Unless you have a 70inch display in your living room, which I don't because I don't have enough space, 4k, just like RT, is pretty overrated, imo.
Edit: Thinking about this, I'd choose 144hz before 4k.

Yazan Aldehayyat: If you're trying to make a PC that has similar features and similar performance, I think the Steam Machine is going to be a really competitive price to that and provide really good value to it.This! It could mean that they are going the Steam Deck way, price wise. I like that.

I'm just happy that I held off from buying a new controller. I nearly gave in, last week. The Steam Controller is going to be an instabuy.

It's all about the price tag. I don't see 8gb being a problem for an affordable system and if you don't expect to play at ultra settings with rt maxed out. Medium/high settings in most 2025 games looks pretty good, anyway. Personnally, I can totally live with that.
