Great news!

I'm just wondering how many of these new Linux users are running old pcs that will be left unsupported by Win11, when Win10 will have been buried by Microsoft.

ROG Xbox Ally Handhelds announced, the first real Steam Deck competition

I'm pretty sure the base model is DOA as in "it brings nothing new to the table" and the top model with an AI chip... $$$$$$, even if Microsoft undercuts it. Probably over 1k$ USD, thus leaving the low end/affordable market to the Steam Deck.

3rd party hardware... The price will probably be on the high side. That's the biggest advantage that the Steam Deck still has. As long as nobody tries to challenge that, the Steam Deck will continue to be relevant.

Edit: And Let's wait for the look and feel of the "Xbox UI". Anybody remembers the Win8 fiasco? Other than that, if it looks anything like the Xbox UI, personnally, I hate it. Pretty limited. What about the drivers and system updates? Like traditional Windows? Yuk!

NVIDIA reveal more GeForce NOW titles for June including Dune: Awakening and FBC: Firebreak

Still waiting for Star Wars: Survivor. That's the only game that I can't play locally (with acceptable performances), on my Steam Deck.

Steam Deck gets a big upgrade with SteamOS 3.7 and you can now install it on other AMD handhelds

I've been running SteamOS on my AMD based PC (Ryzen 5 3600 - RX 6600) for the last couple of months. Its perfect, for my part.

Just create the Steam recovery image following Valve's instructions and boot your pc on this usb drive. Pretty straightforward.

Wow! I can use my Steam Controllers with GeForce Now, via Bluetooth, rumble and all. Awesome!

Edit: Same goes for DS4 controllers.

Edit 2: I just discovered that my DS4 controller can wake my LCD Steam Deck from sleep, via Bluetooth. That's the only one I tested that does that, aside from my Steam controllers, via dongle.

Controllers: does rumble work?
First thing I tested with my 8bitdo Ultimate 2C.
Rumble works flawlessly with the dongle (2.4ghz) but not via Bluetooth.

That's already better than GeForce Now on Nvidia Shield. Rumble only works with the official Nvidia Shield Controller that Nvidia doesn't sell anymore.

[Start of sarcasm] Thanks Nvidia! [End of sarcasm]

Edit: By the way, there is a free tier for GeForce Now. It might be hard to get through the queue, but for testing purpose, it might be enough to answer some of your other questions.

Just a reminder that it's easily possible, and free, to stream your PC with Steam Remote Play...
Did that, when I was using an Nvidia GPU (GTX 1660 Super). Now that I have an RX6600, my streaming quality is far worse than GeForce Now. Way too much stuttering! Can't figure out why.

Even though it has been announced and "released", the download page at time of writing has not been updated to the new app.
It explains why I tried downloading it (before reading this page) and ended up with the same "Chrome installation" script that I already have.

Let's hope it gets updated real soon.

Edit: It seems it's updated now.

SteamOS massively beats Windows on the Legion Go S

Yep! Just like Google is still making phones, even though Samsung and many others are using Android for their own phones.

I think that's what Valve is trying to recreate, with SteamOS.
