On Steam Linux:
Did a complete run of the whole Metro Series games to try to get the good endings (Failed in 2033 and Last Light again even though I followed a wiki. Go figure...)

There is always Witcher 3 that I keep close by, in case...

I'm in the process of building a 3D printed Racing Wheel support for the Steam Controller to play Dirt 4:

Really looking forward to that thing...

Stadia:
Played Marvel's Avengers and completed a Rage 2 run that I started quite a while back and now I'm playing in alternance Grid & Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.

Hints appear of Valve making a handheld Steam "SteamPal" Neptune console

Quoting: slaapliedjeThis brings up a question, has anyone been able to get eGPUs to work in Linux? Last time I tried with mine, it didn't work all that well.
Same here. Tried with a thunderbolt egpu and it was meh... Unstable, worked, reboot, doesn't work anymore, wash & repeat... Annoying!

Who knows, since it's a dedicated hardware, Valve might find some SteamPal specific means (custom port layout/controller/firmware) of achieving this without all the troubles that we, desktop users, have. Just a guess.

Had I known it would be that easy, I would have filed for a pattent on that same thing, back in 2006, when the Wii came out... That's the first thing I tought about when I witnessed the gyroscope enabled racing games with the wii remote... Tought of a controller with back paddles for shifting gears... Damn! I'm under by $4M, now, I guess...

Quoting: GuestDo you paladins really think Valve owns no patents [External Link]?
Does it changes my stance regarding "paytents"? Let me think... Nope!

Quoting: MohandevirWhat is specified in the pattent?
It's specifically having paddles on the back of a standard controller. The patent is here [External Link], for those that are interested.
Yep... Had a look... Just moving my answer here:

Ironburg Inventions didn't create back buttons, they just adapted something that was already used elsewhere. The pattent is giving way to much importance to the container instead of the content. Oh well... Pattents...

What is specified in the pattent? Because back buttons can be quite a large concept, imo... Even the back paddles of a Logitech G25/G27/G29 (example) may be considered back buttons, to some level, and it's been in use way before 2014. But I'm no pattent specialist, so...

Quoting: rustybroomhandleThe developer program mentioned might be some kind of incentive for developers to specifically optimize for/support this device. This would be generally good for us.

As for the price of the device. They'd have to sell it for close to cost or at a loss to compete with the Switch.
Yeah but no. The Switch is underpowered for VR. Because that was the discussion about, when Newell said "You'll see before the end of the year". Unless I misunderstood? And I doubt they would sell a device that can't run the Valve Index... Valve must be thinking about the Steam ecosystem as a whole, I guess.

I'd target Xbox Series X and PS5 if I were Valve (specs and prices).

Just brainstorming... Based on something similar to laptop hardware... Taking into account it's a fixed hardware configuration and adding to this scale economies... And maybe selling it at no profit or under cost... Maybe something can be done to lower the prices.

Edit: I'm working on a 17" laptop with i9-10980HK and Quadro RTX 3000 that weighs no more than 2.2kg (4.85lbs)... It's going to be smaller and and weigh less too. Convert that to gaming hardware... Ryzen 5800H? RX 6600m? Probably a couple of tweaks will be required to get the best of the battery. Just ideas... Or my personnal wishlist.

Edit2: Rumors pretends it's a Van Gogh APU (codename Aerith) 4c+SMT / 8CU rdna2... 399$ USD... Too bad for my wishlist, AAA gaming and probably VR, but better for price and battery life:

Jupiter? Neptune? What does that mean? Wrong planet or another device spec?
