Yep. As a former teacher I can say normies don't care about Linux or OS alternatives. They just use what they have on their machine.

And especially nowadays there is a big shift towards mobile devices, smartphones. I know plenty of people who do not have computer at all and they are pretty happy with their smartphone.

The whole PC market is shrinking and the most people live and use only the browser. OS doesn't matter in that case. Similarly the more people are just using their smartphone and browser there.

Quite true. General use is now in the mobile market. PCs are used for specific use-case where mobiles can't be efficient, like work and gaming, mainly. Streaming content is gone to the smart-tv's market or set-up boxes... The traditionnal PC market as been split in many device driven specific markets... And aside from Apple, it's all Linux based.

Let's hope that Valve will come with a new "device driven dedicated solution" for it's gaming catalog soon... :wink:

Could we be witnessing the impact of the Lenovo/Dell/System76/etc... developer strategy? It's all based on Ubuntu and developers are not having much of an impact on the gamers count, from my understanding. They probably work from home, atm, and have access to their "workstation" every hour of the day... Just a guess and I'm not sure it makes total sense either.

Thing is, I'm quite sure it is something that Google is working on. Read somewhere that it might happen with the release of Android 11. For the moment, I'm reluctant to mess with my Nvidia shield; my family is relying on it to listen to the IPTV app, so I will just be patient.

Looking forward to the day when the Stadia app will be available on all Android TV boxes. In my case, my Nvidia Shield is where I would like to run it.

Excellent question! In my case I "exploited" my older brother who bought that computer for his programmation courses. He's 13 years older than me so... :smile:

What programming course is he taking that he needs an Apple 2 ? Really curios now.

Which leads me to another question:
Might it be possible that Linux especially appeals to (us) old farts?

If those devices still work after all that time i am more than impresse they still work.
I suspected some people boguht them out of nostalgia/collection status.

Funny thing... My brother kept the Apple IIe... Last time he checked (3 or 4 years ago), it was still working. It's his master piece in what he calls his "Museum of Horrors". :grin:

This has been "in progress" for years.

Sad... I had no way of knowing. Didn't followed this thread that often... Someone pointed out it just changed, but it seems it was false.
