New Stellaris developer video brings on the hype
12 Apr 2016 at 12:29 pm UTC

Yeah so far their historical strategy games have been kind of cool but kind of meh as well. Crusader Kings 2 was the most fun but will get to a point I start to fall asleep trying to play it.
Stellaris definitely looks like something I could get more interested in.
I did notice their attention to detail early on in the video that made it seem like a real galaxy. the only possible downside is I like to play a game to be entertained and I don't usually care about how accurate it is to real facts. because factual things tend to be fairly boring to me when it comes to games.
Although the overall idea and presentation looks amazing. I'll probably wait for some reviews on youtube first before I grab it, so I can see more of the gameplay.
I definitely appreciate their attention to Linux and having solid development when it comes to Linux.

ARK: Survival Of The Fittest the free online survival arena is now on Linux & SteamOS

Quoting: Mountain Man"...no pay for anything here as they are funded by the original ARK."

I wonder how people who paid for the original game feel about that?
from what I've seen of this version it's a watered down version of ARK: Survival Evolved and more specifically it's very much like a "Hunger games" style atmosphere. tailored for shorter games to be more esports oriented.

VoidExpanse, space action RPG updated, fixes major Linux issues

it has been working flawlessly for me once again, incredibly addicting gameplay. the game's main resource file labeled as core.cpk and .mpk (mod files) are accessible like any .zip archive file. if you find some mods that appear to be html in Linux, relabel them to .zip in order to extract the contents. I'm not sure why this happens.
the base design uses javascript and xml for making mods.

Developer of Banished writes up his thoughts on Linux

He really should reach out to some of well known porters of Linux Games. I just don't want to see him get frustrated to the point he feels it wasn't worth the effort. I'm sure Ethan Lee or Ryan Gordon could help in this situation.

I like the idea of this game, I really hope they remove some of the micro-managing tasks like assigning beds. that seems rather trivial.
seems similar to a game called Stonehearth, which I seem to like more, but it's more of the medieval style. sadly Stonehearth is only on windows right now. it does run on wine fairly well. it's in an alpha build state, but they plan to cross-platform to Linux and Mac.

Looks like Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II is being ported to Linux by Feral Interactive

this is cool, I've played it before back when it came out on windows. nothing like seeing a 2004 title get ported :P
I would rather see Total War: Warhammer to be honest. but I'm not complaining, I'll maybe give Dawn of War a test run since I already own it.

The video of Linux game porter Ethan Lee presenting at MAGFest 2016 is now online

Ship upgrades are now tied into your crew, so as your crew grows so does your ship. But you have the option to not go the crew route and purchase the upgrades at the black market at the Penguin Bay.

spend $600 US just so they can give you awkward ads in your VR experience. umm... no thanks
Not that I've even considered the Oculus Rift anyway, my money has been on the Vive since Valve is involved.
But after reading over some of this about Oculus, I'm totally put off by the product.

I'm not to concerned about the Gen 1 models anyway, eventually it will be a little cheaper and have more features not to mention plenty of games by the time Gen 2 comes out :)
