thanks for this review, I've been on the fence about this game. I'll wait and see if any of these issues get worked out before deciding to get it. good idea, but poor execution it seems.

Some thoughts on Axis Football 2017

since Madden '09 there's no American Football game on PC any longer. It's funny because I played the original John Madden game that originated on MSDOS back in 1988. I've played many Madden games plus many of the other American football games over the years. I picked up Axis Football 2016, and I've enjoyed it some. It did remind me of the early days of many Madden games, back when it was much more modable. Which can be said for every other aspect of this game, like the animation quality, which is understandable. It seems like it is getting better with each update and now with each new version.

I just hope they get enough fanbase to keep it going. I will most likely pick this one up just to keep promoting American football on the PC but most importantly on Linux.

Ryan "Icculus" Gordon is looking for new games to port to Linux, pay not required

Ryan is such an awesome dev. I hope he gets a chance to knock on Bethesda's doorstep and see what interesting ports they'd be willing to let him work on. I'd really like to see Skyrim and Fallout 4 get ported.

hopefully we get to see a full review on this one, i've been really interested but the various mixed reviews and issues seem to make me wonder if it's worth it right now. I'm glad Kalypso Media is putting forth the effort though. might pick it up next week if some of the major issues are worked out.

Planar Conquest, a 4X turn-based strategy game inspired by Master of Magic is now on Linux

I don't know why but I had this game already in my library, must have been part of a bundle at one time or another. I guess I'll test it out to see how well it works.

Paradox are now doing their own game client for downloads, cloud saves, statistics and so on

Quoting: IdleGandalfSo, why do we need such a client again? (cloud saves are possible with steam as well, if that's the selling point for this client)
they have started to become really popular with some of their newer titles, which if they continue this trend they will be just as big as Blizzard and Bethesda and the like. it helps with their fanbase and sales of their games since their catalog is getting quite large.

Paradox is like the next up and coming AAA company, but they support Linux, which makes them 1000x better than all the rest.
