A year later, Palworld hits 32m players while continuing to fight off Nintendo

I'm glad Palworld is doing well since Nintendo continues to reach into their deep pockets to find a way to take them down once and for all but nothing seems to be working at the moment. I hope they don't get anymore software patents approved in the US because they're going to abuse it.

Fedora threatened with legal action from OBS Studio due to their Flatpak packaging

Can anyone share where Liam posted that? I didn't notice it onsite and I kind of don't use BlueSky or Mastodon (partly because the things I most care about get posted on this site anyway).
@chr
It was posted when the forum was still up but has since been taken down. However, you can search the Internet Archives for the post since it's been captured there.

EDIT: Here's the post (look at the last one about comments) - https://web.archive.org/web/20241223112711/https://www.gamingonlinux.com/forum/topic/6463/ [External Link]

I can't find the "quote this post" button anymore.
Liam has already posted why the button isn't there anymore, along with the forum being removed, and it has to do with the UK's new Online Safety Act.

ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN launches in May - will have Kernel Level Anti-Cheat
13 Feb 2025 at 6:11 pm UTC

It's not a DLC, it's a standalone game. Even with the same developer, one game working does not mean the next definitely will.
You're right, Liam. I thought it was a DLC since I'm too used to it when it comes to anything outside of the base game.

If you look at the Steam page for the DLC, it still lists EAC as the kernel level anti-cheat, which should mean it'll work on Linux/Steam Deck unless they change it to something else down the line.

PlayStation Network requirement on PC will now be optional with in-game rewards

Well, this is an interesting decision from Sony and maybe they're starting to see that the mandatory PSN requirement on PC didn't give them the sells numbers that they were hoping for God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered since not every region/countries supported PSN.

At best, they shouldn't have pushed the mandatory PSN requirement on PC in the first place but going forward, they should continue to make it optional in future titles for those that want to use it.

Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 now available on GOG - plus GOG Dreamlist replaces Community Wishlist

Gonna pick this up on Friday when I get paid, I really hope we get a remake in the style of RE2
@Doktor-Mandrake
If they ever make Dino Crisis 1 and 2 using the same style of RE2 Remake, I'd be all over that because they did a great job on that one.

War Thunder gets BattlEye anti-cheat enabled for Linux
25 Jan 2025 at 4:00 pm UTC Likes: 3

Since this is a Native game, is the battleEye anti cheat like also linux native? Does that make it stronger than if it was the proton version?
@Pyrate
They have a native Linux version and it's one of the few anticheat that works when enabled by the games. Like Liam mentioned earlier, GTA VI has BattlEye anticheat but it's not enabled for Linux and Rockstar could enable it if they want to.

Palworld developer Pocketpair launches Pocketpair Publishing
23 Jan 2025 at 3:41 pm UTC

I'm glad they're not backing down from the nonsensical lawsuits by Nintendo to try to take down the company for making a game that's like Pokemon but different enough that it doesn't infringe on their copyright despite those trying to point it out and their claim that they copied the capturing monster mechanic that's present in similar games.

I hope this new endeavor is a success for them and doesn't become something that get abandoned after a period of time.

GE-Proton 9-23 released with a Battle.net update fix for Linux / Steam Deck

Oh man... good work, but BNet doesn't deserve Eggy.
@ElamanOpiskelija
You may not think it deserves it but many people use it and that's more than enough to get Eggy support.
