Obsidian: Developing For Linux Was Not Worth It

What they want from us? Everybody in our userbase buying 2/3 copies of their game?

Numbers were clear they couldn't set their expectations higher than what our user base allowed.

But again, what Linux(steamOS) represents is (if sucessful) the FUTURE.
It kills me seeing ppl wanting short term profit on a long term move.

MadOut Is A Pretty Terrible Combat Racer On Linux

I'd just like to point something out.

It's good to see game thoughts mature here.
Correct if I'm wrong, but first we used to avaluate only the game's performance on linux rarely talking about the game itself (like giving the dev's a break cause they had decided to release a game for us).

Now it's awesome to see not only the port quality avaluated but also the game quality.
Congratulations GoL community (mainly to all writers).

Wait, am I the only one here that are playing this game with a steady 45-60 FPS?
I guess I'm on high without Vsync.

Gtx770, i5 3,4ghz, 8 ram nothing impressive.
I run Manjaro 64bit btw.

A Review Of Exploration Adventure Game 'Beyond Eyes' On Linux

Well in a world where everything is copied seeing a game like this is refreshing. Showing the world "visually" as the character perceives it's very cool IMO.
The game is literally showing to you how a blind person interact with the world!
IDK man I really think this game is a piece of art. Maybe not a very good game, but a piece of art, just like other games.

Calling it a game wouldn't be fitting. It seems it stands between "Dear Esther" and a regular game, which is fine for me (I liked Dear Esther).

All this new "games" work different ways of interacting with the player (Stanley Parable) and for me this kind of effort is what moves us from having same AAA copies over and over again (akka CoD).

PS: Big hail to you Distro brother!

You guys should try rolling release.

After you set things up (Arch / Manjaro) you don't need to worry anymore.
And that's the main reason I may switch from Manjaro (altho I really doubt it), but I won't leave Arch-based distros.

Quoting: liamdaweWe asked to do a Linux preview FYI, but they said no. Sad, but not unexpected.
Be patient Young Master.

I wouldn't be impressed if in like 3-4 they start asking you for a preview on their games.

Despite being a bit too long this game is a MASTER PIECE, IMO.

An Awesome Developer Response To A Comment On The Linux Version Being A Waste Of Time
9 Jul 2015 at 4:11 am UTC

Quoting: Mountain ManI wonder what his basis is for claiming that "SteamOS will be big".
It's a fair prediction based on how much time, effort and money valve is wasting in this project.

Imagine something like a Skyscraper, ok? You can't say for sure "it is going to be huge" if it isn't being build.
On the other hand... as you see the market throwing HUGE amounts of money and work into it you know, at least, that the project SHOULD be something big.

I've been saying this since ever. THIS IS A LONG TERM MOVE. A INVESTMENT.
If you think you're going to put money today to get it tomorrow you really don't get it.

Lastly, I really think some dev's are trying to milk everything they can from their unsuccessful projects by trying to link their game sells to the Linux/SteamOS success (if my game isn't doing well the platform sucks). This is despicable at best.
