Editorial: I ditched SteamOS in favour of a normal Linux distribution for my gaming

I've had this issue multiple times and I finally got a recovery option, with it having been an expert install. It worked. I don't remember if it broke since because the breakage is so routine that I couldn't honestly remember if it didn't do it again.

On the flip side, Even Windows 10 completely broke on me once. All other times Rocket League would have library errors. Rocket League would very consistently break with Windows updates.

A few commenters here complaining about SJWs, triggers, some odd kind of agenda... are painting transgender people with a broad brush.

Yet... those few commenters are the ones who are triggered and are spreading their prejudice. Calling the kettle black, much?

Do I have to be a representative here?

Okay, I'll bite.

I am not an SJW.

I do not toss around the word "privilege."

I don't care at all for the self-made villains that are Hillary Clinton and Anita Sarkeesian.

I will make any joke I damn please and burn any race or sex card played against me, because I have a concept of comedy.

My triggers are kept to myself and have nothing to do with my gender dysphoria. I've been going through EMDR for trauma stemming from my father beating my mother into the concrete while my six-year-old eyes witnessed it from start to finish. That's the source of my triggers and they have kept me from standing up for myself and others in many potentially physically violent scenarios.

I'm actually quite calm. I guess I'm happy to put up a mirror for those few people to look into.

Quoting: stssIt just seems like a really strange feature.

The decision itself almost makes me think there's more behind the decision than just what makes for a fun game.
That combined with the quote:
Technically nothing has changed, since half the population was already living with those feelings. The only difference is that whether you feel like this is now decided by your SteamID instead of your real life gender.
really makes it seem like the real reason behind it is to spread gender identity awareness or some crap.
Or... they're trying to make sure the sexes make up an even split.

Take your tinfoil hat off, for your own mental health.

Dear gaming community, gender dysphoria doesn't quite work like that...

A new Steam Client Beta adds new Steam Controller features

To get the features or fixes you want, all you have to do is email [email protected]

They will read every email. It's just a matter of which idea is the best, and then the time for them to make the necessary changes and push them out to beta, which can be quite a while.

We'd like to see more of you in the Steam Controller discussion. Bouncing ideas is fun, especially when it's our favorite peripheral!

I suggested what you're seeing with the kb and shot binds. It just didn't make sense to have to open the overlay just to type into in-game chat or that OSK was hardbound to LS click for the desktop, plus Steam shortcuts like Steam Debugger (F6) were getting annoying. The idea was that they (shot, kb, etc.) would send a unique bit string and Steam would ignore keyboard shortcuts sent by the Steam Controller, so Steam doesn't get confused and screw with the gaming experience.

Rocket League not due on SteamOS & Linux for another 6 to 8 weeks

I can't wait until UE4 is commonplace for current games, so then porting is not such a huge problem. When Bioshock Infinite uses eON and the Borderlands games required Aspyr's help, I think that is in big part due UE3's Linux support being half there. So, it's only going to get better with full support in UE4, other new engines and with new development kits.

Microsoft's latest tactics show Gabe Newell of Valve was right to worry

I'm not worried even though they're buying exclusives. Vulkan, open source philosophy, Windows frustrations abound, and HTC Vive have entered the fray. Need I say more?
