The only thing that helps me believe is that this might not be Carmack's gang anymore since he moved on to Sellout VR

Valve Finally Have A Proper Refund Policy For Steam

Hmm... maybe I can finally get that refund for Rage I asked for all those years ago. That game literally made me internally rage and almost cry it was so disappointing. Dirt 3 also disappointed me.

I have to buy this game now! 150fps on a 970 @ Ultra is exactly what I want, because I'm an eye candy and refresh rate addict! MOAR, MOAR!

Liam, what display resolution are you using?

HL2 is a good game, but there's not as much action as you'd expect from other FPS titles. Definitely more story and puzzles in trade of action. If you have spare time and nothing else to play, I'd say it's worth getting into.

In other words, you would only pay for aesthetics so you can distinguish or bling out your character.

New Linux Gaming Survey For April

Quoting: liamdaweWell, unless youre undecided on if you're buying one that is. Else it would be a No.

We don't class a PC running Windows with a custom UI for Steam a Steam Machine. So we shouldn't count any distro booting to big picture mode either.
Hair split: If I build a PC or buy a prebuilt, it will be around portability and playing games on Linux. I'll forgo Windows as much as possible. Add this to the fact that I will install SteamOS when it's ready and buy a Steam controller. Until SteamOS is ready or if I don't like it for some reason I can't even predict, I'm still calling it a Steam Machine. I don't think the distro matters that much, especially when other distros could do what SteamOS will do or improve upon it.

New Linux Gaming Survey For April

I'm on Intel and AMD, but it's not put together due to lost faith in a retailer that happens to have the motherboard I need/want so I don't have to build a whole new system. Even worse is that I am hesitant to put new hardware on this PSU from a trade with a friend who should have known better than to buy the brand I got from him.

In short, I'm unfortunately not playing games on my own system until I build a whole new one.

I will most likely be ditching AMD GPUs, so I answered a little bit as though I had a PC still built, but without saying I'm buying games at the moment. I buy Linux games exclusively at least when I can play them, so I answered some questions as though I didn't stall my PC shopping and rebuild. Still a Linux gamer here.

Star Citizen For Linux Is Being Held Up By Crytek

Quoting: rea987Well, I have no idea about the Kickstarter promises, but I prefer a "working" 1.0 release instead of a garbage release like Dying Light. Therefore, I found his excuse acceptable.
It's also a solid excuse. I've not seen any or enough benchmarks on Phoronix where I don't keep telling myself that right now on Linux a 780 ti is the best option because the performance wall starts at that GPU and nothing is really faster. I can see Vulkan and maybe SteamOS changing this, Vulkan being the most important.

I'm really happy to hear they're looking into Vulkan. Cryengine and SC are two things I've been nothing but excited for and besides Crytek's management issues they've had, they've stayed good in my book. The sooner they start working on Vulkan, the better I think the API will turn out.
