Quoting: TemplateRI personally think, that Valve should create a Linux-Distribution, which is NOT based on Debian or Arch. It would be much better to have more controls, hat should remain and what not.And call it
BUT Valve should also recreate a new desktop environment, which aims more for PC instead of Console.

Quoting: mphuZValve is wrong about this.I bet you're one of those guys crying badly when one of their games don't run anymore as it doesn't come with a 64-bit build.
It was high time for all software developers to stop supporting 32-bit. Valve should be able to fully switch to 64-bit faster.
This also applies to Wine. Stopping Wine64 support, and then crying and calling everyone bad - it`s brilliant.
The mess and stupidity of some developers amazes me every day. And Valve joined this as well. Valve still can not decide on the distribution. They were doing well with Debian / SteamOS, and then abandoned his support.

So for Steam/Valve I'd love to see them opting for Fedora.

Quoting: ThormackIf it happens, I hope they choose Debian as the new default supported distro.Absolute fan of Fedora and Arch.
Not really a fan of the RedHat distros.

Quoting: EikeDoesn't sound it's using the Stadia infrastructure.Since Stadia will work on Linux and it's powered by Linux, here's what is newly announced for it:This does mean the games do not need to run natively on Linux.

So no requirement of a Linux client build but it should be low hanging grapes.
But this does *OFC* not mean we will see significantly more of those games on Linux.
The market share of Linux users is still small and probably not worth it for most of the AAA publishers.
Would be great though, but don't hold your breath.

Quoting: Avehicle7887AFAIK it runs on Linux and AMD hardware (not sure about the actual driver stack) and uses Vulkan.Quoting: ShmerlSome weird announcement about The Witcher 3 being developed for Nintendo Switch. It means they are implementing a Vulkan renderer for it after all? With Google trying to attract high profile games to Stadia, it's one step away from it. And two steps away from normal Linux release then.Unfortunately, many devs will happily port to everything and skip Linux aside or at the very best give it lower priority. I haven't looked into how Stadia works underneath, will it require games to be Linux native to make part of it? If so, that could be a nice 2 birds 1 stone.
