Quoting: EikeWould be very stupid by whomever (at Valve) to claim that.Quoting: subThis recent news by a very influential German games news mag againI remember Gamestar saying that Valve had explicitly said to them that they're going to have every game working.
falsely writes that Valve promised that ALL games will be supported on the Deck.

This is not helpful.
Plus the tendentious point (among 5, why you should probably get the deck),
that you can wipe Linux and put Windows on the device.

I'm still deeply impressed by that Proton layer tech.

Steam announces changes to sales for devs, next set of sale dates up

I'd like to see Valve giving devs/publishers a discount on the platform fees as an incentive when they provide a native Linux build for a long time.
Wouldn't that be an even greater thing for the Steam Deck?
I mean that would help twofold:
Getting more games to the Deck, making it more attractive,
plus, giving native Linux games a push.

Quoting: gradyvuckovicSurprised there's no "Steam Deck Sale" planned. Maybe they will wait a year, make sure everyone who wants a Deck, has one, before they do the sale.(1/2 off-topic)

I thought the Linux version was just a patch.
Time flies. :)

Quoting: HamishThere was a physical release by a porting company?Quoting: CalinouJudging by the article name, I thought it was going to be about the first-person shooter SiN. :PYeah, sadly the Hyperion Entertainment ports are next to impossible to find on disc these days. I did mention that I played the SiN demo on Red Hat Linux 9 earlier if you would recall.

It's sooooo good with the Index.
Only thing - as with all VR games for me - I have to stop after about 30 mins.
My brain is oviously unable to get used to it. What a shame. :(

Half-Life 2 getting a new UI in prep for Steam Deck

It looks like their single-player games/franchises became only valuable to Valve,
when the try to introduce a major new feature (sw/hw).
Unthinkable (to me) they'd release "just" a new awesome single-player game.
That's just not how they leverage their franchises - unfortunately.

Quoting: ThatOneGuyWon't happen.Quoting: subI see the first screenshot and have to think "That game is almost 20 years old???".Couldn't agree more with this, Valve should just do that already.
Aged so well, imho.
I'd take an HL2:E3 anytime full price, developed with the plain old engine.
So much fun I had with that game. Still have in the many reruns.
It would make for an amazing extra surprise for the release of the steam deck.
I too would buy it in a heartbeat, old engine or no.
