There's a brand new Steam Play Beta version out with FAudio, also a Steam Play whitelist update

Quoting: GuestOnly unknown games in the whitelist, that’s disappointing.
Avernum's cool. Then again I like everything Spiderweb's put out.

The next big Steam sale dates have been leaked, as usual

Valve have updated Steam Play with the 3.16-1 beta based on Wine 3.16 and new DXVK

Anyone having issues with OpenGL games and 3.16-1? No Man's Sky is reporting 0 VRAM, but plays. Trove won't start. If I roll back to 3.7-8, everything is fine. I did update my video card drivers to Nvidia's 396.54.09.

Quoting: garpuI'm not sure why it's fine with regular WINE and dxvk, but not Proton? I didn't think Proton was that much different than WINE.
Proton has wine 3.7 as base and current wine is 3.16.
Wine 3.7 was released on 27. April.
I wish Valve would use Proton BETA ALWAYS with newest wine.
Let's wait until 1st October. I'm sure some "magic" will happen:)
What's happening on October 1?

Grim Dawn still borked. There's some speculation it's related to the anti-piracy measures in the game? I'm not sure why it's fine with regular WINE and dxvk, but not Proton? I didn't think Proton was that much different than WINE. Would be nice if there were a fix for it, since it would be nice to have all my games in one spot, rather than scattered between two different prefixes.

Solace Crafting seems interesting for those that love to explore and craft

Huh, interesting. So a less tedious Wurm? (I do like Wurm, but it's old school, even tweaked.)

A multi-vendor extension for transform feedback in Vulkan is being worked on to help DXVK and others

So, granted, there is support with DXVK coming from Valve. But if we regular users want to show the devs some appreciation, what's the best way to do it? Do they have a patreon? FOSS projects can flounder and die, when there isn't enough support (financial that is...computers and electricity cost, not to mention programmers need to eat and pay rent.)

I know WINE can be a touchy subject, but if Windows 10 does go subscription only, having an alternative for gaming that's easy, works, and runs with people's favorite games will attract a lot of people to Linux.

Quoting: garpuFYI, if you're on a distro that still has Python 2, Steam Proton 3.7-5 seems to require Python 3. If games don't start and there's a message in console about it not being found, install it, and games should start again. Most distros have a version of python 3 that can be installed alongside python 2, if python 2 is the default.

Looks like it was from this commit [External Link].
Yeah, would've been nice if they gave us a head's up on that one...
