In 2010 something else happen and thats when I quit supporting them. I grew up in Austin, so I always tried to support companies from my home town. Finally yes the open source drivers are BETTER then the close source drivers. Guess who pays to develop them? I can tell you it's not AMD.
Thanks

Quoting: GuestI am sorry they did. In 2012 they laid 25 people off that dealt with Linux Driver Primarily.Quoting: dsngjoeAMD did not lay off their driver team, they do not expect the community to develop drivers for them.Quoting: GuestHow is this trolling?? He is expecting the developers of the game to find a solution for the current state that AMD drivers are in. I responded to why AMD drivers are horrible in Linux, why I use Nvidia only since 2010. I then voiced my opinion why i really don't care that the Nvidia Drivers are not build into the Kernel. I just want to play games.Quoting: dsngjoeTrolling post is obvious.Quoting: subGo talk to AMD. They LAID off all of their Linux Driver Team in 2010 and expect the community to develop their driver for them. I have bought Nvidia ever since. Yes they are close source driver but guess what, every game I have tried works without issues. Nvidia close source drivers work with every distro so I dont know why people get so upset if its close source. As a gamer all I care is for my games to work on the OS I want to use.Quoting: mr-eggthe mis-information here..I can only speak for BL2 and I must say - from the perspective
Borderlands2 and Borderlands TPS are excellent ports.
of an AMD GPU user - it is NOT a good port.
Performance is abysmal compared to the same computer running BL2 on Win7.
Yes, they stated that at release time and even marked AMD "unsupported".
Still, *I* want an update on that matter. What's the reason for the bad performance?
Is it really just the well known "it's AMD drivers quality and we're waiting for a fix"?
When can we (AMD user) expect an update which *significantly* improves performance?
Is there are chance we can leave out the FUD from this and try some reasonable discussion?
Sorry if you feel I was trolling.

I love GoL and Aspyr Media for the joy they bring to my life everyday. I read some GoL, kill some bad guys on BL2 in the mornings. Then at night I see if any new articles are left to read at GoL and then play some Civ V to wear out my brain. Thank you both for the joys you all bring.

I am still jumping with Joy. I bought Season Pack and some other Expansions to show my support. It's running awesome on my rig. Antergos Latest Nvidia driver. My specs are 4930k / 16 GB Ram / 780 Ghz Edition. I am so happy you release this and don't worry about the situation with AMD. You did your best, and AMD needs to pick up the slack on their drivers. I fully support you Aspyr!

Guys this looks like fun and really want to put my wallet behind this project. If you read his Q/A on Linux Support;
"Initially, we'll be Windows only as we don't currently have the resources to develop and test on three platforms. The moment we do, we've already got some people lined up to take care of getting the game on anything that supports a mouse, keyboard and reasonably modern GPU."
Maybe the people lined up are volunteers?
This does not make me very confident, after the fiasco of Skull Girls and 7 Days to Lie, I dont feel confident in supporting until I can play some type of Beta-Demo native in Linux.
This is just my opinions and in no way I am trying to persuade people not to support it or any project they want. I just dont want to get burn no more that's all.

Quoting: gojulHi,I read on the Reddit on Linux Gaming AMD CPU missing some instructions. Dont know more then that.
I could get it running on my Core i7 4790 but not on my Phenom 9850. On both I have a 64 bits Kubuntu 14.04 with KDE and latest NVidia binary drivers.
Any issue with this game and AMD CPUs ?
BTW No issues to report here playing in single player mode.
