I think this is most likely going to be VR headset. It is basically a separate class of devices where it will be safe to test such things. Considering that Valve has been doing a lot of work with SteamVR recently only confirms it more
I wonder what prices we'll see for their new headset

What I find more interesting are these half life rumours, which might line up with a new vr headset.

I loved hl alyx but I played it on a cv1 occulus about 3 years ago, which was already outdated hardware but I found it cheap

Likewise I have a meta quest 1 which is outdated. But worth it to me, growing up loving half life, playing alxy was such a treat

I'd be interested in this new headset they're working on but I don't know if a pleb like me would even be able to afford one, I'd really like to own a headset owned by valve over Facebook but it's going to be another premium headset, and that means it's going to be pretty expensive

Maybe the deckard will let us play a new half life game fully standalone, either way I can't wait to find out what they're cooking up

To be fair, that was a novel invention that nobody had done before, and a correct use of patents, though. (Pretty sure that the Namco one was pre-dated by the 1987 Invade-a-Load tape-loader for the Commodore 64, though.)

On the other hand, it's being speculated [External Link] that Nintendo is going after Palworld on patent grounds due to holding patents on the concept of catching monsters in a ball - something that was inspired by real-world gachapon toys that existed before the Pokemon games did. It just goes to show how little they have going for them in this case if that's all they could come up with, so hopefully they'll lose this one and won't be able to enact chilling effects on future competition.
Yeah really does seem like they're looking for the tiniest thing as a reason to go after them

I wonder if it's possible for the devs to change some things in their game to avoid these lawsuits? If it means having to change major game mechanics could suck but better then pulling the plug entirely

I've never had interest in palworld but obviously it became really popular so this makes me feel for the players

Gets harder and harder for me to justify buying any more nintendo switch games the way they keep going >:(

I played both of these for the first time a few years back now and really enjoyed them

Such fantastic games, I wonder what these fun extras are

They know there's no copyright case, but patents are such a mess because people have managed to patent just about everything. If you're old enough, I'm sure you remember all the SCO nonsense.

Anyway, I can't picture Japanese court without imagining Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney shouting, "Objection!!!!"
I always think of the Namco patent having their older games playable in the loading screen, and how no one else was allowed to do that

Or Nintendos D-pad

The way nintendo want "compensation" as well is pretty vile

Those Palworld devs earnt their money, it doesn't belong to nintendo

Quoting: scaine
Quoting: sobkasSo does anyone know a good replacement for Lutris that isn't Heroic Games Launcher?
I jumped to Heroic a couple of months ago and it's a breath of fresh air. But if it's not for you, I suppose Arch Wiki has you covered. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gaming [External Link]

There's a section on launchers in there.

Edit - oh, and I just noticed that Liam covered another alternative earlier today!

https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/09/nonsteamlaunchers-v394-gets-save-backups-using-ludusavi/
Can you install and add games that aren't on any of those platforms? Iso's and cds ect

Does it have a mangohud toggle as well like lutris does?

I've never used anything other then lutris (then emulationstation for my main GUI) so abit unsure about the alternatives

Linux version works OK for me too last time I tried, on ubuntu

This is really cool news, love playing this game split-screen, gameplay is a nice mix between classic Outrun and coast 2 coast

Kinda makes me wish I bought the steam version and not GOG though, didn't think it would end up with Workshop support

Though I admit I don't care for it as much now, nostalgia aside.. the controls were awful, tank-controls
