Im 42 years old and cannot buy Dying Light because of censorship - what a BS!
Soon Kalypso will release remakes of Commands 1+2+3 pretty sure.
But even the original versions for windows you cannot buy over Steam SHOP in Germany - heh? I still have Commandos 2 in my shelf I bought as a teen - what the hell is going on? Because of swastika???

Quoting: 0aTTIn Germany we thought for a long time that only violent games like Dying Light or Left4Dead would be affected. But in the meantime the censorship is spreading to other areas as well. And the reason is always protection of minors, even if they are not interested at all, but compulsively stick to Minecraft.I'm in the same boat as you - live in germany.

I also remember having some troubles with modesetting years ago and setting up dual-screen with it.
But these problems do not apply anymore.
With Debian Stretch (stock Xorg 1.19.2 and stock 4.9.x kernel) there should be not problems.
And to be honest I think that a Linux user should be able/learn to compile a newer Xorg server - it's really easy.
Linux gives the user ALL freedom which Windows does NOT.
This is my opinion - nothing more.

Wine 3.7 was released on 27. April.
I wish Valve would use Proton BETA ALWAYS with newest wine.
Let's wait until 1st October. I'm sure some "magic" will happen:)

Quoting: garpuI'm not sure why it's fine with regular WINE and dxvk, but not Proton? I didn't think Proton was that much different than WINE.Proton has wine 3.7 as base and current wine is 3.16.

@m2mg2 @RussianNeuroMancer
You are talking about the Intel Xorg DDX driver. This one has nothing to do with Mesa driver.
Did you guys tried the "modesetting" driver which today is integrated into Xorg and not a separate driver like Intel, Radeon, AMDGPU, etc. ?!
I use it for any Intel iGPU system and it simply works better than Intel DDX.
Section "Device"
Identifier "Modesetting" <<<< whatever
Driver "modesetting"
Option "AccelMethod" "glamor"
Option "PageFlip" "off" <<<< currently needed for Xorg 1.20.x with enabled composite
EndSection

@YoRHa-2B Do you have insight in the release schedule of Proton and if yes you are allowed to share?
I mean when will Valve upgrade Proton to 3.15 for example?
With this release more games would run out of the box.
Edit: Maybe Valve could add a Proton "experimental" release (wine + proton patches) shortly after every new wine release?!

When these games are run on nvidia they try to use nvapi but cannot find it.
The workaround is to spoof AMD to prevent this.
Yes, I think these games try to use specific nvidia features like PhysX, etc.
I'm pretty sure that Valve will soon update Proton to wine 3.15 or maybe upcoming 3.16.
Next DXVK v0.72 will have AMD spoof support for GTA V, Dragon Quest XI and Batman: Arkham Knight.
Look here...

And last but not least... THANK YOU VERY MUCH Philip and all others who made this possible.

Quoting: PhlebiacI saw this referenced for something else (GTA 5?); got any background info on why this is necessary / why it works? Is it so that it doesn't try to run some Nvidia-specific code, like GameWorks/HairWorks/PhysX/<lockin-of-the-month>?As far as I know nvapi is not implemented in wine 3.7 (also Proton) but in higher versions of wine.

Also what I've observed is that the most games run ether well on nvidia or mesa but mostly not on both - interesting.

Quoting: theghostProblem with the Google Doc is, a lot of test results are useless.Exactly the same I thought yesterday reading this doc.
Many failing test results are missing the requirements: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/blob/proton_3.7/PREREQS.md [External Link]
People should read them before adding their results because it's waste of time.
