Just 6 days ago I was joking with a friend who likes these mass-produced genres that they should make one that has bullet hell, roguelike and deckbuilding all in one game.
The next thing I'm gonna joke about is Silksong release date announcement.

Quoting: Liam DaweThe UK stock seems to be nonexistent. When I got my deck during the summer sale in July last year, they ran out of stock pretty much a couple says after the sale started if I remember correctly, I had to get mine from the US to make it in time before the discount period was over. Pretty annoying that it doesn't look like they resolved that issue, over a year later.Quoting: wintermuteEverything is showing out of stock for me. Probably for the best, I can't really afford it before Xmas :grin:Yeah seems like they're all out in the UK now too, they went fast.
Valve may be working on a new kind of Steam Machine

A public release of SteamOS would be (at least for me) a signal that gaming on Linux is finally at full parity in all kinds of setups and for all kinds of players, as I think Valve wouldn't release SteamOS until the low-hanging fruit are dealt with (perfecting HDR, Nvidia drivers, anticheats...)

Quoting: MichelN86There wouldn't really be anything special about SteamOS if you're already on Linux, you should be able to do everything SteamOS can do in your distro as is.Quoting: PyrateSteamOS public release until then is definitely possible. If this would be true i might ditch my Pop! OS from my system. I use Pop! OS since the end of 2021

Another thing is Linux frankly wasn't up for it during the examples you gave (Windows 8 etc), but now it is. I only switched after dabbling a little in March this year.

Quoting: Cyba.CowboyWhy would that change anything? It'd be no different to when Windows XP reached end-of-life, or Windows 7, or Windows 8... People will just move over to Windows 11 or whatever they're up to now, just like the gullible sheep they are.Because it is in fact different this time. Windows 11 is complete garbage, even the gullible sheep realise this themselves this time, really, I have friends who always talk shit for being "eccentric and weird" (all for me not bending to the destructive social norms of our generation, long story, not the right place LOL), and they're asking me about Linux now, because they refuse to jump to 11 and are seeing the writing on the wall. Sure, it won't be everybody, or even the majority, but like I said, it'd be a noticable percentage, if Valve plays it well, and Microsoft keeps this downward spiral of theirs going.

Quoting: damarrinMy issue with the SD is whenever I want to switch from handheld to TV I need to close the game and then basically reconfigure a bunch of display settings. If you set the game resolution to Native in the Properties tab, you shouldn't need to turn the game off to change the display settings, just go to the in-game settings after plugging it to the TV and you should be able to change it on the spot.

November next year will also mark 10 years since Valve's original Steam Machine launch.I think it goes without saying that if Valve intends to capture a not insignificant portion of PC players (desktop or otherwise) to their SteamOS, their best chance ever will be around October next year when Windows 10 security updates stop. I think all the pieces have been falling into place lately, and a SteamOS public release until then is definitely possible.

We have no intentions to intentionally block Steam Deck compatibility! How nice would it be if the other multiplayer devs were like this. I don't want explicit "support", just don't deliberately block Steam Deck/Linux and we'd be good.

Fedora KDE all day every day of the week. Sure I had to manually add 3rd party repos and Flathub at the start, but I consider that an indirect-plus as it exposed me to the concept of package managers and flatpaks early on, instead of annoyingly having to figure that out later where I would've already thought I got things covered.
For gaming I believe it's up there as the best for sure, Fedora as an always up-to-date base which is important for those gamers who want to minmaxx their 1% lows and get the latest drivers and features. And KDE as its hands down the best DE available for its VRR and HDR support. There's a reason why Valve chose KDE.
