PlayStation Network requirement on PC will now be optional with in-game rewards

Still can't view any of their post-psn games on Steam here. Of course this issue will get 0 attention and it'll probably stay that way. Sucks but hey, you what they say about an unexplored market?

Originally PS5 exclusive Team NINJA are bringing Rise of the Ronin to PC in March

But I think Sony will probably hold the best of the best, such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Astro Bot, as console exclusives.
The problem with Astro Bot and PC is that I think the Dualsense is essential to playing the game. Sony's ulterior motives aside, good luck trying to convince the PC players that a game can't be played with a mouse and keyboard.

War Thunder gets BattlEye anti-cheat enabled for Linux

Since this is a Native game, is the battleEye anti cheat like also linux native? Does that make it stronger than if it was the proton version?

DOOM: The Dark Ages launches May 15 with a new trailer and developer video

Feels like a betrayal of what you'd expect of ID tech, they're under Microsoft now, so it checks out. Should've seen it coming with what happened with Mick Gordon.

Palworld gets a roadmap including co-op crossplay, world transfers for Pals and an ending

Crossplay could potentially interest me and my console friends to jump in this game.

I saw an interview a while ago with a Palworld dev and he talked about how the live temporary service concept doesn't apply to their game, as a response to those who said the game "died" after its initial boom. It was a breath of fresh air hearing that, not every game has to be subject to the social media rules of trends and hype waves, and so I highly respect the studio for their -sadly- oldschool take on the matter (and also for sticking it to Nintendo ).

Windows compatibility layer Wine 10.0 out now bringing Wayland and ARM64EC support, new FFmpeg multimedia back-end

Would that mean Proton 10 could also move to native Wayland? And would that bring a performance bonus?

GE-Proton 9-23 released with a Battle.net update fix for Linux / Steam Deck

Are you OK? @Liam Dawe
I think it speaks volumes about the importance of this website and what it means to many of us here, that a mere 3 days without articles would be a cause for concern.

Even with SteamOS coming to more systems Bazzite has no plans to go anywhere
17 Jan 2025 at 12:42 pm UTC Likes: 1

The Bazzite devs are really into this buzzword-sounding terminology shenanigans, it's like a cult within a cult. Fedora's own "arch btw" perhaps?

I don't mind it though, the tech and their work is remarkable. Just a little funny there .

Proton Experimental gets fixes for Marvel Rivals, Sea of Thieves and Stalker 2

I won't remove the Steam Deck "workaround" for Rivals, it loads the game faster. I still brag about it to my friends who are on Windows every time we launch the game.

Intel and NVIDIA drivers holding back a public SteamOS release, Valve not trying to compete with Windows

I get so tired of those delusional people online who say things like "the MINUTE SteamOS is out, I'm leaving windows!1!!11".

Like, A: no, you won't. And B: they have no idea what they're talking about, SteamOS is looking to be focused exclusively on console/handheld experience, not the desktop. Why would you switch your desktop to something that's designed to be navigated with a controller?

But I do get it, it's the copium that some need to convince themselves they aren't interested in the nerd OS, if you explain that something like Bazzite is basically the same thing but with better desktop experience, they get scared. SteamOS doesn't have Linux in its name so it must be an easy and polished alternative to Windows.

I don't really care what people use on their computers, do stay on windows if you want, it's just that those people could at least know what they're talking about first, before spreading misleading info and farming likes.

I think what many of those people are not aware of is the nature of software over on the penguin side, and how its mostly collaborative and open-source, SteamOS doesn't (and likely won't) exclusively have the secret sauce that suddenly makes a windows user jump ship with zero hiccups, the experience will largely be the same in the mainstream distros as well, since it's mostly made by the same open source software.
