Planetary Annihilation Teases New Units & Saved Game Support

Quoting: Purple Library GuySo, wait, this colossus of a game that everyone's been raving about is something where you can't save?!
The game's focuses on competitive multilayer. Single player only really exists to help get to grips with the game. So saves ain't a big deal.

Aspyr Media Are Close To Breaking Even On Linux Ports

Quoting: ShmerlI don't think their games should need Steam to function (in theory), but they don't let you install them without Steam. I have no idea whether they also use Steamworks at runtime.
Seems Borderlands 2 and XCom-Enemy-Unknown do, I'd expect others do too. So I guess I have to take back my statement about whether I'd have supported them with DRM. Steamworks is the only DRM is can stand to have about though.

Quoting: minjWell to be honest I was hoping they were past that point already
As had I. But this is still positive as the Steam Machine(s) is/are going to be the first console released with a user base large enough to cover porting costs before it's even available to order. As the growth of the platform is likely/expected to be slower than launches from the big three this is going to be reassuring to companies on the fence on whether to support the platform.

Buy directly from us if you can (GameAgent)
Does anyone know if it's DRM-free there or not?
I'm not aware of any of the ports including DRM, I'd not have supported them if they had. See/check the listed system requirements before purchasing (basically it's the same as ordering from Steam just without Valve taking a cut).

Seems like he no longer wishes to air his dirty laundry. So I wish him luck and will now stop following this story.

I think we can all agree this discussion now needs to focus on BBQ Pie! I for one will be suggesting it to the person who likes baking in my family, who happens to be visiting me tomorrow, yay. It's only fair as I was planning on making banana waffles [External Link].

For those that don't know, icculus [External Link] has a blog with some great recipes [External Link]. I've done his Balsamic Brussels Sprouts [External Link] for the last two Christmases and everyone loves em.

Quoting: N30NStrange approach, but at lease with all the frustration and (apparently) negative feedback he is still attempting once again to resolve the problem.
Um no, I'm pretty sure he's not... He said he's installing Microsoft Windows 7, not a Linux-based operating system.
If you see my previous comment, he wants to use the Wubi [External Link].
Quoting: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuideAt this time, Wubi does not work with Windows 8 default boot-loader. Thus at this point Wubi would not work on a new Windows 8 machine. You would be able to install, but not reboot into Ubuntu.

Quoting: Eric LengyelI just reformatted the "new" machine, and I have Windows 7 installing. We'll see if that makes a difference...
Strange approach, but at lease with all the frustration and (apparently) negative feedback he is still attempting once again to resolve the problem.

@lucifertdark, He has given a little more info on forums [External Link]:
Quoting: Eric Lengyel it would periodically start failing to boot up. Either the boot loader would give me an error message, or the screen would just stay black without anything happening, or I would get to a solid purple screen that just froze. No mouse cursor, no response to keyboard input, nothing. This happens for no reason whatsoever. I never made any hardware changes or did anything out of the ordinary like tinkering with the hard drive partitions. It just spontaneously breaks. So I reinstall. Again and again, every time this happens.
I know what your thinking but…
Quoting: Eric Lengyel And btw, I don't have a hardware problem. Don't even mention it. It's new, and it's high-end.
He has also been trying to use the Wubi installer on other Windows 8 machines [External Link], which is not supported [External Link].

Valve's Newest Controller Design Looks Solid

Quoting: EKRboiMaybe it is just me but it looks like he was kind of struggling. His whole execution seemed pretty slow for this game.
Yes but I assumed he had not been testing the controller for long as he was improving quickly. Also he did not have a dead zone set-up correctly, causing him to take his thumb off the touch pad all the time. See this other video…

Quoting: valczirFighting games do *not* work with analog sticks, and I have my doubts they'll work with touchpads either.
I thought the same till I saw some of the videos on youtube.
