Steam Controller 2 is apparently a thing and being 'tooled for a mass production' plus a new VR controller

While the Steam Controller 1 is a great concept, its execution is severely lacking.
it honestly feels really cheap, the shoulder buttons feel like they could come off any minute and both the shoulders and the touchpads require an overwhelming amount of force to be pressed. that also produces a very loud clicking noise. the vibration on it's also really terrible compared to any other controller, it's more a whiny sound with a little bit of feedback than vibration. The face buttons are too small, hard to find when you're not looking, and have a mushy feel. I find myself constantly looking at it in my hands because my muscle memory just can't find the buttons...
It's a shame honestly because i wanted to like this controller. i feel like it'd work great for games that don't need precise aiming. But no matter what, I just keep coming back to the Dualshock 4 which is superior in almost every way.

I imagine most of you gaming are likely at least on the 560 series that I covered previously.Nop, still on 550 here. I recently upgraded from 535. I'm kind of anxious about new drivers as I've made so many bad experiences with updates both on Linux and Windows

Nah, I don't think I'll be ordering it. Way too expensive. I bought a white skin instead and may swap the buttons of mine at some point to grey...

That is so cool! It sounds like a tinkerer's paradise. Now we just need better nvidia drivers to make nvidia more viable on Linux overall

I think I'll just buy a white hard shell for the Deck instead. I already have a pink one and I'm very happy with it. The buttons will stay black ofc but that's fine by me

Sony say their PSN account requirement on PC is so you can enjoy their games 'safely'

I mean… I guess it would make sense for me to have the PSN requirement if it offered any benefit whatsoever. I don't own many games with 3rd party logins but where I do, it does offer something to the consumer. Rockstar's DRM/Launcher for Red Dead 1/2 at least offers something in the form of cloud saves. Although that arguably could be integrated into Steam itself. For the first-party XBOX games, you have some benefits in the form of compatibility between PC and console (which is cool I guess, but I don't own any console so not really relevant for me).
However, there is nothing that justifies this account requirement for Zero Dawn Remastered. It offers no cloud saves and no compatibility of any kind with playstation, I would at least expect at least that it recognized my old saves if I had previously played Zero Dawn on a PS4 console, and import them. But no such functionality exists. The PSN overlay offers the trophies but Steam has its own built-in achievements so tropies are utterly pointless. And it's a singleplayer game so no multiplayer that would need to be managed from outside Steam for cross-play or something.
