The TUXEDO Gemini 17 - Gen3 is a big powerful desktop-replacement class laptop

Seriously... notebook makers need to stop putting 500GB of storage into a laptop and call it a day. This is pitiful. Considering the astronomical increase in game size, you can only install 2x 150GB games before it's full. And why pair such a weak GPU with such a powerful CPU? This laptop has so many weird design choices and the price is frankly insane.

Really? no FSR 3.1? Come on CDPR... how much more effort would it have been

Mojang give an update on the future of Minecraft development

Quoting: nwildnerI see a lot of Mod/Plugin breaking in Minecraft Java then. On Bedrock for the poor peasants that still use Windows, Microsoft is already doing some tricks to avoid function mapping making mods breaking on purpose after each release.

Imagine the same hell being unleashed on Java edition making modders to have to race head by head with Minecraft often releases. This way I'll have to spend more time helping my nephew setting up his controllers by using Controlify mods because of his small hands(can't play on mouse+keyboard).

Sad they come with this bullshit to make Minecraft Java players life even more miserable.
Have you tried using Steam input instead? It allows to play any game with controller even if that only supports mouse and keyboard. It's how i play minecraft on Steam deck without any mods. There's tons of preset controller configs already available that map controller buttons to keyboard or you can make your own

NonSteamLaunchers v3.9.4 gets save backups using Ludusavi

Ludusavi is amazing, I disovered this gem a few months ago. Coming from Gamesavemanager on Windows, I must say the UI/UX is so much better, and it's faster too. It even can search inside proton prefixes, which GSM isn't able to. In my opinion this tool is seriously underrated and deserves more coverage in the media😄

Here's how to fix the ELDEN RING 'inappropriate activity' issue on Linux / Steam Deck

The fact that they can't even do proper testing is really disappointing. And kudos to the guy who found the 'bad hack' to get it to work without dlc. The fact that you have to do manual file editing to get a game to work in multiplayer though... yikes.

Btw, Fromsoftware, where is the other promised 'hotfix' for Steam Deck users? Do you not realise that Steam Deckers make up a pretty big part of your playerbase?

Will anything dethrone the Steam Deck? Probably not

Running apps in gaming mode always felt really wonky to me and some would just outright crash...

NVIDIA driver 555.58 released as stable bringing Wayland Explicit Sync

The first time I tried wayland with Kubuntu, plasmashell crashed so hard i only had a black screen LOL. That was with 'outdated' drivers though. Would i still need to upgrade plasma to enjoy wayland though? Is that even possible on LTS?

Forza Horizon 4 is getting delisted in December

Aw  I tried playing it on steam deck once, but the experience was just bad. I can't comprehend how it is 'playable'. I had frequent crashing, performance problems, sign in problems, in short, nothing but issues. Never had these while playing 60+ hours on Windows.

Anyways, this is not the end of the game like it was for 'The Crew'. Forza 3 was delisted ages ago and still works, albeit not on Linux thanks to being a UWP app.I'm pretty sure even Forza 1 and 2 still are, but they never came to PC

Steam Deck LCD 64GB and 512GB discounted until July 11

I only own the LCD Deck, but in my opinion it's no less worthy of purchase than the OLED model. I mean, Valve surely wouldn't have released it otherwise? And for me personally, the upgrades aren't really that meaningful. I mostly use it at home, so battery life doesn't matter. I don't think I need an OLED screen, as I'm perfectly happy with mine on the LCD Deck, and I don't really fancy screen burn-in that OLEDs are susceptible to. Also, the new WIFI chip wouldn't make that much a difference, as my internet speed is already slower than the old chip. Maybe the bigger screen + less bezels would be cool though. But that's not enough reason for me to buy another Deck. I bought the 64GB model and upgrade the internal storage to 1TB, that was certainly cheaper than paying premium for Valve's storage options

ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree DLC update causing problems on Steam Deck / Linux
23 Jun 2024 at 5:49 pm UTC

LOL, I just read through the github issue of Elden Ring & AntiCheat issues… apparently someone had contacted the devs via email, and they responded that "Elden Ring is not supported on Steam Deck"… Can you believe that?
