Unreal Engine Is Now Free, Including Access To The Source Code

I finally downloaded it for the first time today and am trying a compile now.

I'm pretty sure this will force Unity to seriously re-evaluate their licensing and pricing model.

New Linux Gaming Survey For March
1 Mar 2015 at 9:31 pm UTC

While I made two pre-orders last year that I'm very happy with, I know that many people made pre-orders within the last year they are very unhappy with.

I'm suggesting that the pre-order question should have an additional answer available because right now it asks:

Unique Question 1: Have you pre-ordered a Linux game in the last 12 months?

And the answers are:

Yes
No
No, I don't pre-order EVER

There should probably be a "Yes, but I'll NEVER do it again"

Because if an unhappy person who did pre-order in the last 12 months is being 100% honest with the question they will have to answer, "Yes"

Unfortunately for folks using GameMaker, it will almost certainly not get a Linux editor now.
They could try Enigma.
That does look like a good transition off of GameMaker. Just like Godot has been a fairly smooth transition away from Unity so far.

Unfortunately for folks using GameMaker, it will almost certainly not get a Linux editor now. Even though pretty much all companies have a desire to maximize profit, they usually at least have a passion for improving their products. I'm sure that even Microsoft as a whole has a desire to make Windows a better product. Gambling's sole focus is to maximize profit, money is the product.

Feral Interactive Are Teasing Another Linux Port

Quoting: jestaEvolve perhaps ?
That is probably more likely the case.

Taking a second look, Trials Evolution is kind of a pipe dream because I just saw on the Steam store page that it's published by Ubisoft and developed by Redlynx (which is a division of Ubisoft). Knowing Ubisoft's history with Mac ports, they'll probably start making/porting a game or two to Linux sometime around 2020, haha :)

But, for the fun of it I'll stick to my guns.

I'm guessing/hoping they're porting Trials Evolution :)

Reason:

The image is of Tiktaalik which is commonly associated with the evolution of fish to tetrapods even though there are fully formed tetrapod footprints found much lower in sedamentary rock than Tiktaalik.

In the living room I use a Logitech F710 since it's wireless and I can get a ways away from the TV. It gets recognized and pairs instantly running under Linux, but in the past when I used to use it with Windows it would often take a lot of unplugging and replugging to get it to pair as well as initially needing to install the XBox driver before it would recognize it.

At my desk, which is where I primarily play, I use the Logitech F310 since I don't need batteries and the signal is much better than the F710 since it's wired.

Both controllers work flawlessly and out of the box under Ubuntu.

Quoting: natewardawgI really appreciate them being so open and giving people the heads up about GPU support and a later release.

While they probably have good reasons, I wish the Metro Redux devs would be at least a tiny bit open with how it's coming as I'm starting to wonder if they will ever release it on Linux. I don't think we've heard a peep from them since it was on Pre-Sale.

Cool, thanks for sharing, there's that little bit of news I've been waiting for! :)

Quoting: MohandevirNice! Since they spécified Metro Redux for Linux would be OpenGL-4... I look forward to playing this game!

"Oles Shishkovstov: Yes, the original Metro Last Light Linux port was based on OpenGL 3.2 - it was stable but did not support high-end features. For Redux we are essentially replicating the DX11 version, with almost one-to-one correspondence in features. The downside of that approach - the GPU should be at least OpenGL 4 'core profile'."

I agree, I've been looking forward to seeing OpenGL 4 in action ever since they announced it would be GL 4.
