Steam's latest crazy indie hit Vampire Survivors is coming to Linux

Quoting: JuliusHeh, looks like the Creeper World of the twin-stick shooters. Might pick it up once it has a Linux port.
But note this is NOT a twin-stick shooter. It can be played with three fingers.

Quoting: Purple Library GuySo the title is "Vampire Survivors". So, are you a vampire trying to survive a zombie apocalypse, or just a person trying to survive vampires?
The latter. Basically think if Castlevania was a twin-stick shooter.

It gets very silly towards the last five minutes or so (runs are max 20 minutes long, then you die).
So, do you ever "win", or is just a "survive as long as you can, but you will inevitably lose" ?
If you survive for 30 min in a zone, you win and then another zone is discovered.
I bought it yesterday, played for 2.6 h and won two times.
But there are achievements, and more weapons, ...
Think roguelite because with the coins you find you buy more power for your stuff.
In my opinion Risk of Rain is much better, but this is easy to play.

Quite addicting! but I suppose just for a few days.

Dark mysterious metroidvania Crowsworn is live on Kickstarter and flew past the goal

Aw shucks. Someone copied some style from one of the best games of the last 5 years. That has never happened in the history of gaming. Gee... tell me again why they call this a metriodvania?

If they pull it off, all the power to them.
I played "Metroidvania" games since Vampire Killer (1986)

Hollow Knight HAD AN UNIQUE STYLE. In the other hand Crowsworn looks an easy copy (in the visuals and maybe in the mechanics). Play it if you want, but I prefer to give my support to the people who create new things.

But I repeat that my judgment is only based on the trailer.

The 'Homesteading' update for survival game Vintage Story is shaping up to be huge

Well, Vintage Story and Valheim are kinda different, but in some ways kinda similar.

Valheim is more an arcade type of survival game, and mechanics are simple, building etc is easy, crafting too, getting resources too (crafting in Valheim is something similar what you can see in World of Warcraft). Combat is fun, and a little bit like in Dark Souls, but easier and not so frustrating. But still it's lovely game with a lot of atmosphere. Very relaxing and definitely worth it.

Vintage Story in the other hand is similar, but If I think of atmosphere and chillout. Setting is different however. Valheim is based on Nordic mythology. Vintage Story is more horror-like, situated in some deviation of world based on the mythology created by H.P. Lovecraft. In the mechanics it's much more complicated and challenging. It involves a lot of complicated crafting, with getting resources by crafting - for example, you have to melt an copper, and create copper bar from it. You have to prepare furnace, and almost manually do the rest. You can dig really deep in VS, but to find for example iron, you have to think, find traces of it on the surface first, then dig. Combat is similar to Minecraft, but a little bit more dynamic and skill based. Also, very relaxing and definitely worth it :D

Tough choice.
Thank you very much for your explanation, I hope is useful also for others.
There are many games, and comparing them it helps to decide, maybe GOL can do this kind of comparison between games.

For what you say to me, I think Valheim is more appropriate for me. I have other hobbies and I cannot invest many time on thinking about mechanics. Also looks nicer.

These months I've not played anything, but I'm not sure if play something like this or like Valheim.

Can anyone compare a bit?

Just a relaxing experience to pass some time 2-3 times a week on summer?
