i dont know, this fragmentation of package formats always cause issues for me.
for example, i couldnt find any tutorial on how to install plugins on vlc snap, libre office snap, and even retro arch had issues.

i end up having to install multiple versions of the same software in order to avoid issues.
because sometimes the snpa version has the features A,B,C, and the flatpak B,C,D and the app image C,D,E and the deb, D,E,F...
or the bugs instead of the features.

speaking of it, for example, recently i had to install another version of VLC just to make the fluidsynth plugin work.
gimp also caused issues with the lack of .ora support. (this format is very convenient if you want extract data from an gimp, just convert it to ora and you have all the frame data and time stamps you could wish in an machine/human readale format)

as for retro arch, i cant remember, i think i dont have some shaders instaled for some reason, they should be included by default but they arent anywhere.
or maybe it was video playback?

not to mention when an essential feature dont work, like hardware decoding for videos...

itch is great, they let you set an custom fee, frm 1% to more.
at least they allowed last time i checked.
now they are charging 0 for a limited time... not a great difference if you already set it to 1, but still great...
its a shame we cant say the same about their payment processors (paypal or stripes, you chose)

ok, i tried the begining of the game...
it works until it doesnt.

it had a few moments in the cutscene where it stoped for a few seconds but resumed, then i tried to play a bit, it had an anoying horizontal line at the end of the screen, other than that seems to work fine, i killed 3 ganados and when i was about to kill the 4, it crashed, simply stoped and didnt resumed.
i will try the gamecube version instead.

according to vg charts:
ps1 has 2706 games.
ps2 has 3565 games
ps3 has 1904 games.
if you pick the ps3 model wich had backward compatibility, then the full catalog of PS3 at the end of the generation was 8175 titles.

Steam deck currently have 8147 (verified+playable) with an average of 20~26 games beind added each day.
in other words, in just a few days, it will be the platform with most games, even if we only count the games that received some form of Q/A!

SD already have more games than any Nintendo console, all sega consoles combined and Xbox Series (including an total backward comp with xbox, xbox 360, and xbox one), ps3 was the only one left!

now aside from mobile (where most game suck anyway) and old pcs that are hard to count the number of games (eg: pc98) linux is the thirdy platform with most games with some form of curation / QA.
and, if we count total games on steam it should soon surpass mac too.

if we count all games and not just verified+playable it do have more games than mac already (at least on steam)

There is another option for consideration. The Wii edition of RE4 is really good, if emulation is in the cards. Since that's a laughably weak console you could be ok even with that old i5/hd4000 machine.

emulating wii? i doubt i can do that... its an i5/hd4000 indeed but an weak one... but if you have experience in doing so, so maybe i should try.
i didnt though my hardware was capable of emulating psp and it is, so who knows.

meanwhile i purchased RE4 classic before Capcom decided to delist it from steam knowing that my computer where capable of playing it because my old computer was weaker and able to play it on linux...

seriously, shit like this will only harm canonical and linux in general, the only consistent way to install things on linux is using proprietary softwares like steam.

i think its time to find another distro, im tired of distro hopping, so i sticked with ubuntu for a while, but my patience have limits.
