It's odd how long it has taken already for someone to pick up the formula, isn't it?
The problem is that despite being a very very good game it fell flat on it's ass.
Is that conjecture or do you have a source for that ?

Quoting: scaineI haven't re-installed since I got my new AMD card.
Do you know if we still need to use the proprietary AMD driver in order to fold using the GPU?
Yes and no

You will need to use AMD's Opencl from the prop driver .

Un-install mesa opencl.
Any noob-proof guides on how to do this? 😬 It sounds very much like one of those things that I'll try on my own, only to find myself with two hours later reinstalling my system 😅

Do you know what this entails in terms of performance and stability outside of folding? E.g. will the fact that I'm using Mesa via Kisak-PPA bork the system? I really wish F@H and AMD would get this working OOTB with the default/OSS driver 😇
No clue on *buntu based , don't use it.

Manjaro here, it's a case of pacman -U opencl-amd (IIRC)

Or go in the package manager and search for opencl-amd then install. Not sure how much easier you could make it tbh.

Stability wise it's solid, perf I have no Idea compared to mesa-opencl , I use the prop driver version as a few things have failed to work on the open stack opencl driver.

Quoting: robvvThis thread was from a while ago, but has there been any update on the Linux build?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say no, nor Boarderlands 3.

Proton has basically ****** us.

It's been a looooong while since I've seen a AAA game released article for a linux native game on GOL.

Me too, though I utterly suck at the first so I'll likely suck at this one

Not a driving game you can just jump in and go like the arcade type. You need to learn how it drives to be able to get round a corner

Free and open source 3D creation suite Blender gets funding from Microsoft

Quoting: GuestBut I wouldn't use Blender on Windows anyway since the render time is a nightmare. You're loose approximate 25% CPU and 6% GPU performance on Windows due to Windows being Windows. Since time is money and time is a vital part of 3D rendering it's just a waste of money and time if you render larger projects.
This may be why they are sponsoring it!
Like others have said, I still don't trust them as far as I could throw mount Everest.

However, good news for the Blender team.

Quoting: furaxhornyxI really like this idea, however, I am wondering how this would work with multiple monitors ?

For example, I have 2 monitors, one is 180Hz with Gsync, and the other is 75Hz, so technically I could play at 180Hz (max) with Gsync enabled, (like I did when I was using Windows), but under linux, I am capped at 75Hz with no Gsync...

So I am afraid that the answer to these question will be biased.
But that's a general X11 thing, so that applies to everybody that has GSYNC on Linux. It only works on a single screen setup.
Same with AMD too, I have a 144hz FS2 screen as my main and a standard 60hz pannel as my second. Never actually tried freesync yet as it's to handy having the second monitor on!
